Now that you know what to do with lizards, cockroaches and termites, here are some natural ways to get rid of ants at home.
Ants often leave a pheromone trail wherever they go and send out different types of smell signals to alert other ants of when food is nearby or when there is danger ahead.
Mask the smell that ants leave with a strong essential oil like peppermint.
Just like the smell of strong essential oils, vinegar too masks the scent of pheromones that ants give out.
Make a vinegar spray by filing a spray bottle with equal parts water and white vinegar.
Spray on affected areas and ant entry points.
If you can’t stand the smell of vinegar and hate the oily residue that essential oils can leave, try a citrus peel spray.
They’re really easy to make too. Simply soak some lemon, orange or lime peels in water and heat up.
Afterwards, drain and keep the citrus infused liquid. Let it cool and keep in a spray bottle.
Ants are said to hate walking on powdery materials like chalk because they contain calcium carbonate. Once again, it masks the scents left off by other ants and completely numbs their ability to sense and feel their surroundings.
Cayenne pepper works more like a deterrent than a poison for ants.
Simply mix some cayenne pepper with water and spray on affected areas. Ants hate the strong and spicy scent that cayenne pepper leaves so it’s best to avoid it.
