An elegant home can be created with a myriad of factors. A sneak peak into this Greek apartment will show how Chevron flooring and minimalist features around the house can up the ante with ease. With a layout that is quite similar to those of BTO flats in Singapore, this 115-sqm apartment in Greece is all sorts of pretty.
The apartment — designed by architecture firm Normless — will no doubt have lots of useful design ideas. It is home to a young couple and their newborn girl. The homeowners had requested for a classic atmosphere, so the architects combined this elegant look — made up of chevron flooring and molded walls — with minimalist functionality.
Chevron tiles create “V” patterns on the floor, and is often found in elegant buildings in Europe (especially France). It’s a clever way to give the impression that a room is a lot bigger than it is, as it create an optical illusion to make a space appear wider or longer.
Dark and Natural Wood Furnishings
A workspace was carved out in the living room. The dark and natural wood furnishings create a timeless and unfussy look.
The marble dining and kitchen counter feature simple forms. These contemporary touches prevent the classical influence from appearing too dated.
Warm Timber and Wall Moldings
The children’s room also features warm timber flooring and wall moldings. The decorative lamp and wallpaper add a playful ambience.
Wooden Glass Dividers
Mirrored doors on the wardrobe create the illusion of a space.
White & Black Marble Tiles
To create a sense of luxury in the bathroom, the designers used white and black marble tiles.
Timber, which is a great element to include when you want to create an inviting space, balances out this luxe factor.
