How To Get Frizz-Free Hair-Featured

#1 You are what you eat

Even if you’re blessed with a high metabolism and aren’t worrying about your weight so much, an unhealthy diet can still wreak havoc on your skin. Some people who struggle with acne have been advised to cut dairy out of their diets, but there are also other generally unhealthy foods to steer clear of, like fried stuff, processed foods, and of course alcohol and smoking.

When it comes to acne specifically, you want to eat lots of fruits and vegetables that are high in water and antioxidant content, as well as food that’s high in skin-friendly selenium, like Brazil nuts and pumpkin seeds.

#2 Adjust your expectations

The thing about striving for perfection is that you need to first accept that everyone is different. And if you have very problematic skin, you shouldn’t be comparing yourself to someone with genetically clear and problem-free skin. You can work towards clearing up your skin and improving its texture, pigmentation, and hydration levels, but you need to adjust your expectations of how much your skin can change, as well as accept your own personal limitations.

Perhaps you have really oily, acne-prone skin? Working at minimising the frequency of the breakout cycle and balancing your skin’s sebum levels would be a reasonable goal. You also have to factor in your budget – certain changes require a bigger investment, like laser treatments for example.

#3 Give it time

Miracles don’t happen overnight. Some skin journeys can take weeks, but others can take months or even a year, depending on the severity of your skin issues and the endgame you have in mind. For me, getting rid of my adult acne took about two months, and it involved eating a lot better, drinking less alcohol, keeping my skin clean and hydrated, as well as giving up wearing pore-clogging foundation except on special occasions. Certain habits will have to be kept up in order to maintain better skin as well. For instance, if I wear foundation for more than two days in a row, I’ll begin to notice pimples beneath the surface of my skin.

#4 See a professional dermatologist

Whatever your skin concerns, a trip to a dermatologist is going to be able to tell you more about your skin than you can gather on your own. A dermatologist can recommend treatments, products and procedures, as well as give you a better idea of what to expect from all of the options available to you. Whether it’s dark eye circles, fine lines, acne, pigmentation, or even scarring, a good dermatologist has the knowledge and experience to address all your individual concerns better than any generalised article or help guide can.
