As Halloween approaches on October 31, you can expect some exciting activities and events, from a Stranger Things-themed haunted house in Universal Studios Singapore and a Yokai Festival to spooky fun at restaurants and even the library! For more adult fun, there is a zombie laser tag in town. Or head to the Asian Civilisations Museum to learn about Asian folklore’s link to modern-day superstitions. Here are the highlights:

Suitable for kids! Join in the Halloween celebrations at Downtown East centre on Yokai, supernatural beings from Japanese folklore. Watch a parade of creatures, monsters and spirits, battle Yokai in a game of shooting darts called Yokai Vs Humans at Wild Wild Wet, or visit the “underworld market” bazaar for a spot of shopping at E!Avenue.
There is also an outdoor movie screening of popular 1988 Japanese anime My Neighbor Totoro (October 27, 7.30 pm), where there will be free-flow rainbow popcorn, and nachos and cheese.

Suitable for kids! The Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) will play host to performances, movie screenings and talks on how Asian folklore is connected to supernatural beliefs. Kids can make a souvenir to take home as well as embark on a spooky trail. There are prizes for the three best-dressed visitors.

Suitable for kids! The inaugural Halloween event at indoor theme park KidZania Singapore sees the complex transformed into an abandoned Spooky Town. Children can look forward to a haunted house, trick-or-treat stations, storytelling sessions and carnival games.

A virus outbreak is turning laboratory workers into zombies. Contain the virus and recover the anti-toxin by navigating a laser tag game and solving puzzles in an escape room – while zombies are hot on your heels.

Clarke Quay will be transformed into a watery underworld, featuring decor designed to spook the living daylights out of visitors. Come dressed in your Halloween best and ride the terrifying waves of the Undead Boatmen Cavern, Mermaids’ Den, Monsters of the Sea and Loch Ness Lake. You can also take part in the virtual reality Zombie Mania Shoot-Out Challenge featuring two spooky VR plays.
When night falls, Clarke Quay’s Fountain Square will metamorph into a scream-worthy hive of activities: Highlights of the freaky opening party include music by O.K Ready!, stage games, “Best-Dressed Contest” with plenty of prizes to give away. Tales of the River will also feature kid-friendly daytime activities such as monster doll making and painting workshops on the weekend of October 26 and 27, noon to 6 pm.

The eighth edition of scare fest Halloween Horror Nights returns with a Stranger Things-themed haunted house, which is based on the much-loved Netflix horror science-fiction series. Scenes and places from the show come to life, including the Hawkins National Laboratory and the Byers’ home.
There are also four houses dedicated to Asian folklore, such as the legend of the pontianak, who resides in a village’s banana trees, and the Chinese vampire secret society called the Killuminati. The event is not recommended for children under the age of 13.

Suitable for kids! Hit the biggest Halloween extravaganza in the East at heartland malls White Sands, Century Square and Tampines 1 where they are running a series of spooktacular activities for both young and old.
From craft workshops at White Sands to spooky makeovers and a rooftop horror maze at Tampines 1, as well as a wickedly good Halloween baking classes and costume contest at Century Square, there is food, fashion and fun for the whole family this trick-or-treat season. Shoppers also stand a chance to win event tickets when they spend at any of the three malls from now till October.

Suitable for kids! One Community Fiesta presents Halloween @ The Movies 2018. This is the first trick-or-treat event held at Cairnhill Community Club, where you and the kids can explore a haunted maze, horror rooms, go on a train ride and try your hand at Halloween food craft. Come dressed in your scariest best and take part in the best dressed costume contest.
Ticket at $3 entitles you to one Ghoulies’ bag, popcorn, ice-cream and candy floss. Entry to the Haunted Maze is at $1 per entry and Final Destination Train Ride is $1 per ride.
