Occupying a restored heritage mansion in the heart of UNESCO-listed George Town, this cool boutique property has 35 rooms featuring four-poster beds and exposed brick walls.
After checking in, canvass the city for local street eats such as char kway teow (fried rice noodles with seafood), Assam Laksa (rice noodles in a sour gravy) and oyster omelette, then walk off the calories by seeking out Lithuanian street artist Ernest Zacharevic’s murals.
Standing next to Siem Reap’s Royal Palace and across the street from the leafy Royal Gardens is the luxurious J7 Hotel. It is conveniently situated a 15-minute drive from the world-renowned Angkor Archaeological Park.
After spending an entire day clambering about the ancient ruins, unwind by soaking in one of the property’s five Jacuzzis, or indulging in a full-body massage at the spa. Then take a snooze in a spacious 60 sq m wood-accented room.
The country’s first Radisson Blu Resort has opened in the seaside city favoured by Thai royalty.
The property features 118 rooms and suites, of which 22 provide guests with pool access. Facilities include three swimming pools, while a variety of recreational activities such as water sports, plus golf and vineyard tours can be enjoyed in the surrounding area.
The newly-built hotel’s rooms and suites all come with private balconies. It is located a mere 100m from Jimbaran Bay in southern Bali, renowned for its 4km stretch of pristine beach.
Next door is the Samasta Village shopping and cultural complex, but leaving the resort will be difficult thanks to the artificial beach area, free-form swimming pool and lap pool. There’s even a kids’ club, teen club, and five F&B options.
Set in Yangon’s Mayangone Township is Tryp Yangon, a boutique brand by Wyndham. The 60 design-driven guestrooms are inspired by Myanmar’s culture and traditions, with art pieces that reference the country’s agrarian lifestyle.
Explore more of Burmese culture at glittering Kabar Aye Pagoda and vast Inya Lake, both a five-minute stroll away.
The resort is situated on the 59,000 sq m Xiengkeo Palace that once belonged to nationalist hero Prince Phetsarath.
Most of the rooms afford views of the Mekong River, as well as the surrounding picturesque mountains. Admire a blend of French colonial architecture and Laotian motifs.
There is also a small museum on-site, while tours to the nearby Pak Ou Caves or Kuang Si waterfalls can be arranged.
Set on the up-and-coming Vietnamese island of Phu Quoc, this stylish resort was designed by renowned Bangkok-based architect Bill Bensley.
Guests will be able to enjoy a range of activities such as Vietnamese martial art sessions and cooking classes. After cultural immersion, relax at the resort’s private beach or one of three outdoor pools, followed by a massage at the spa.
