If you’ve been looking for a playground with a sandpit in Singapore, check out what’s behind Bishan’s bus interchange.
The nostalgic mosaic-tiled playground features two colourful clocks (and cute arms), and this humble littleplay area is one of the few surviving playgrounds from the 1980s.
In front of Block 514C, Bishan Street 13.
It’s hard to miss the beautiful sight of this monastery when you’re in the area.
Founded in 1920, it is the largest Mahayana Buddhist temple in Singapore and features Chinese art aesthetics and Southeast Asian architectural styles.
Highlights here include a 13.8-metre giant Buddha and the Pagoda of 10,000 Buddhas. Curious to see them? Remember to visit in proper attire: covered shoulder and knees.

Bishan is not lacking of cafes and one of the new additions to the scene is Shamrock Cafe located near Marymount MRT station.
Drop by for lunch for a plate of turkey bacon carbonara, mushroom arrabiatta, chili padi aglio olio pasta and so much more. We particularly enjoyed the caramel marshmallow gelato!
5 Clover Way
Enjoy a beautiful meandering river that used to be an old concrete canal when you visit this 62-hectare park — making it one of the largest urban parks in central Singapore.
Take your kids to the children’s water playground at the Pond Gardens or enjoy recreational activities at the River Plains.
You can even let your furkids free at the dog run area, and there are also plenty of places to eat in the park after you’re done.
Fishing is not allowed in the river and cycling on the bridges is discouraged.
Along Bishan Road and Ang Mo Kio Ave 1
Located in the An-Nahdhah Mosque, this two-storey learning centre is an integrated hub to promote better understanding and engagement between all faith communities in Singapore.
The centre also encourages inter-faith dialogue through talks and activities. Plan a visit to view these exhibits, artifacts and get information on Islamic civilisation and lifestyle here.

If you’re a big fan of Nutella, you don’t want to miss this place at Thomson V. It offers a wide range of desserts with a generous dose of our favourite hazelnut spread.
They are also famous for their fried ice cream rolls, and if you want something more than dessert while you’re there, there are savoury items too!
Pasta, spicy chicken drumlets and honey roasted wings are all worth a try!

Launched in 2010 to commemorate 100 years of scouting in Singapore, the Scout Discovery Centre is house in the Singapore Scout Association.
