Every Gilmore Girls fan is surely anticipating revisiting the quaint old town of Stars Hollows and its townspeople, the quick-witted banter, the copious amounts of coffee, and everything in between. It has been nine years after all.

But whether you’re anxiously waiting for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life to drop on Netflix, or you’re new to the Gilmore party, we countdown the top 10 reasons why you should clear six uninterrupted hours off your schedule on 25 November:
“If you’re out on the road, feeling lonely and so cold. All you have to do is call my name, and I’ll be there on the next train. Where you lead, I will follow.” Yes, the theme song is back so nostalgia junkies, don’t be shy. Humming is acceptable, but belting out the song gives you a good dose of warm fuzziness and extra fan brownie points.
Lorelai and Rory have built their relationship on more than just pop tarts, coffee and over-ordering Chinese takeout. They are best friends, first and foremost, which means they tell each other just about everything – even if this means leaving voice messages multiple times a day – from their love lives to personal goals, even frustrations, their honesty inspires each other to be better persons.
#TeamDean (Jared Padalecki), #TeamJess (Milo Ventimiglia, above left) and #TeamLogan (Matt Czuchry) can all rejoice, for the three boys (now men) are making a comeback. We can’t wait to see if Rory ends up with any of her former beaus.
Yes, you will hear the loud-mouthed Paris Geller (Liza Weil, right) a mile away. While she can be quite the perfectionist and go-getter, we appreciate Paris for being one of Rory’s most loyal friends. Rory’s best friend, Lane (Keiko Agena, left), will also show up with her twin boys and we are excited to see how these friendships have developed after all these years.
He could quite possibly be the oddest yet most entertaining character on the series yet. Remember when he made his own movie, ‘A Film by Kirk’, and it left us wanting more? How about that time when he ran triumphantly around the dance hall after winning the 24-hour dance marathon? Or when he openly confided in Luke about his night terrors? Kirk, you’re gold.
What is the Dragonfly Inn without our favourite French concierge, Michel? Or Miss Patty’s Dance School without the flirty dance instructor herself? Or the weekly town meeting without the infamous Taylor Doose? Thankfully, everyone you loved from the show is back!
Yes, the Gilmores actually had 71 dinners together within seven seasons. We kept count.
Perhaps the starkest reality will be Richard’s empty seat at the Gilmore dinner table, as Edward Herrmann, the actor who played Richard, passed on in 2014. We are confident though, that such a fine gentleman and loving father figure will be given the farewell he is most deserving of.
We all know Amy Sherman-Palladino didn’t get to end the previous season the way she wanted. But now that she has taken the reins for the revival, we can’t wait to hear the final words uttered this season for some much-needed closure.
If there is but only one (and some would say the most important) reason that you need, the fact that everyone around the world gets to watch it on Netflix at the same time on the same day means no spoilers and no waiting.
“Oy with the poodles already!”
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life launches Friday, November 25, everywhere that Netflix is available.
