Time to break out the bubbly! On November 25, Taiwanese stars Alyssa Chia, 44, and Xiu Jie Kai, 35, finally got hitched, no less than three years after registering their marriage.
The reason they delayed the wedding was because Alyssa got pregnant with their first child, Bubu, and the Jie Kai didn’t want his wife-to-be walking down the aisle with a baby bump.
Their destination wedding took place in Bali, Indonesia, where the couple were surrounded by their closest friends and family. The couple now have two daughters together, 3year-old Bubu and one-year-old Bobo, who were flower girls at the ceremony. Alyssa’s first child from her previous marriage, 12-year-old Angelina, was also present to lend a hand.

In August 2018, the 27-year-old TVB actress and her fellow actor beau got hitched in Bali’s luxury hotel Bvlgari Resort. There was a traditional gatecrashing and Chinese tea ceremony, before the couple exchanged vows in a chapel. Grace and Kevin met in 2016 on the set of TV drama, Blue Veins, which they both starred in, and got engaged in July 2018. See more pics from their seaside wedding here.

Taiwanese television stars Ruby Lin and Wallace Huo also got married at Bvlgari Resort Bali in 2016 after a 10-year friendship. The couple said “I do” in a small intimate ceremony amid many of their closest friends and family. Pictured here are the bride’s My Fair Princess co-stars , Vicki Zhao and Fan Bing Bing. Among the other stars who flew in for the wedding weekend include Shu Qi, Hu Ge, Zhou Xun, Nicky Wu and his wife, Liu Shishi.
The wedding bells went ahead and rang for the pair despite Ruby’s earlier pact with fellow Chinese actor-singer Hu Ge. The close friends previously said they would marry one another if they couldn’t find a partner by the time they were 40.
Luckily the pact fell through, as Ruby and Wallace had a fairytale affair on what many have dubbed “the island of the gods”.
Speaking of Nicky Wu and Liu Shishi, they too tied the knot in Bali in January 2015. The Taiwanese actor and former boyband member had to remarry and divorce his ex-wife Ma Yashu before the wedding could go ahead but despite the drama, Nicki and Shishi were happily wed in a lavish ceremony.
Malaysian model Amber Chia chose to marry her long-term sweetheart and manager in Bali to avoid a media frenzy. The plan worked and the couple were able to become man and wife with only 60 people in attendance. They had a classy ceremony at Diwangkara Holiday Villa on Sanur beach.
Hollywood loves Bali too! Chris Pratt and his ex-wife Anna Faris held a low-key reception with family members at the Four Seasons in Jimbaran in 2009. The couple has since revealed that the decision to get hitched was purely spontaneous and they were actually just on vacation with no plans to exchange wedding bands.
Former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins married her long-time love Jake Wall in an intimate wedding ceremony surrounded by family, friends and 20,000 long-stemmed white roses. The Australian couple exchanged vows at the seven-star Semara resort in Uluwatu, which was followed by an all-white reception.
Jerry Hall (pictured here with her new husband Rupert Murdoch) was famously hitched to Rolling Stone’s frontman, Mick Jagger, in Bali way back in 1990. But the couple’s Hindu wedding was not legally binding and was never recognised in Indonesia or elsewhere. Still, the pair stayed together for almost 21 years before calling it quits.
Hong Kong actor-singer Kenny Bee heard Bali’s call when he married his partner of 17 years, his former assistant Fan Chiang, in 2014. The couple chose to hold their ceremony at the ultra-luxe Alila Villas Uluwatu resort. The starry affair was attended by Tony Leung, Jacky Cheung, Maggie Cheung, Kathy Chow, Eric Tsang, Alex To and Nick Cheung.
While this couple’s actual wedding details have never been revealed, it’s thought that they wed in a private ceremony in Bali last year. Reports at the time said Mila and Ashton “rented out the posh Hill Villas Hotel for $13,582 and chartered jets for their 50 nearest and dearest — at the cost of $2 million! — to the far-off locale.”
After a 22-year long courtship that was often on-and-off, Hong Kong celebs Sammi and Andy finally became husband and wife in 2013. Where did they choose to say “I do”? Bali, of course! The wedding was held at the Nikko Wiwaha Chapel. The chapel is made of glass and is situated right next to the beach, making it a popular choice for budding brides and grooms.
Another Hong Kong couple that chose Bali as their wedding destination is Hawick Lau and Yang Mi. The loved-up duo tied the knot earlier this year in an intimate and simple affair at the Bulgari Resort. The loving groom reportedly dropped over $1 million HKD on the big day, and personally planned every detail. Swoon!
