Singaporean fashion blogger and social media star, Melissa C Koh celebrated her wedding with childhood friend-turned-husband, James Chen. Theirs was a love story 14 years in the making – the pair first met in church when they were around in their tweens.
“We didn’t start dating back then. We were just really close friends who became study buddies,” said James. “He would come to my house after school, almost every day, to study together and have dinner. Apparently, he had the biggest crush on me but I didn’t know back then!” said Melissa.
Melissa said “YES” to her sweetheart in September last year when he surprised her with a proposal at the church where they first met. The duo then sealed the deal this morning with a church wedding followed by a reception for friends and family.

Right before the bride made her way down the wedding aisle, she prepped for her big day with a letter written by her beau, which was delivered to Melissa just this morning.
Melissa and James chose to get hitched at the Church of St. Teresa with close friends and family looking on. The bride was a vision in white ruffles as she walked down the aisle.
No word yet on which designer the bride decided to go with for her wedding dress, but considering that she’s a bonafide tastemaker we’re sure Melissa chose well. We do know that her jewellery was from Tiffany & Co.
Unlike most brides who opt for intimate and small wedding, this couple went all out: “We believe in the more the merrier, that’s why our wedding will be a huge one, just the way we like it.”
Prior to their official wedding, Melissa and James had their an amazing pre-wedding shoot in the City of Love – Paris. They also threw a festive bash in Bali for their engagement party.
Melissa boasts more than 200K Instagram followers, and most of her impeccable photos are taken by James. Her “Insta-boyfriend” – who started off knowing nothing about a DSLR camera – is now the perfect photographer behind her most-like snaps.
While the couple were a mere 10 months into their relationship when James proposed, the 27-year-olds have actually been best buds since they were 13, and even stayed in the same hall during their undergraduate days at the National University of Singapore.
Few may know this, but James left his job in finance analysis in March this year to work hand in hand with Melissa on her influential business. On taking the leap of faith, James says: “We support each other in whatever way we can, based on our strengths, to serve clients and make our ideas or projects come to life.”
“James is especially conscientious and patient,” adds a thoughtful Melissa. “He takes a lot of administrative matters off me so I can concentrate on the creative aspect of the business.”
James, Melissa says, belongs to a rare breed of men. Not only is he attuned to her tastes, James even enjoys the shopping trips.
“Ladies have so many options, unlike men! I do like to pick out things for Melissa and offer my opinion if she needs one,” says James with a laugh.
Sounds like he’s a keeper! Here’s wishing the happy couple lots of love and success for their marriage.
