Always cleanse before bed. Not clearing your skin of your makeup can cause collagen to break down and wrinkles to form. Your skin repairs and rejuvenates overnight, so help by keeping it clean and hydrated.
There are loads of treatments out there that can correct and repair damaged skin, but for the best results, choose one that specifically targets your skin woes.
Check the products you buy for potent active and proven ingredients. Look for retinol, AHAs, antioxidants like Vitamin C, SPF and a quality moisturiser that will keep your skin supple, hydrated and moist.
Don’t use thick non-breathable foundations and moisturisers if you’re prone to big visible pores and blackheads. Instead use a light, oil-free formula.
It causes premature ageing by drastically harming the elastin and collagen fibres in your skin. This leads to wrinkled, sallow, mottled and saggy skin.
Avoid exfoliating every day, especially with harsh scrubs. It can lead to irritation and redness. Instead gently exfoliate twice a week with a mild salicylic acid-containing product, to help smooth and even out skin tone.
No matter what, always cleanse and moisturise your face twice a day. Use a skincare regime that includes moisturising and cleansing with a product.
Always, always wear a dedicated sunscreen and be sure to apply it to your neck and décolletage too. Most sun damage is incidental. So apply it every time you leave the house.
The more hydrated your skin, the better your wrinkles will look, says experts. Drink lots of water, cut back on coffee and soda, and moisturise regularly.
Not only does your skin require downtime to repair itself, but sagging skin and puffiness around the eyes make wrinkles look much worse.
The more balanced your diet, the younger you’ll look. And if you’re not taking a multivitamin, start now. To keep skin happy, eat more fatty fish (such as salmon), dark green vegetables (like broccoli and spinach), almonds, and walnuts. And lay off the refined sugar and booze—both cause aging inflammatory reactions in the skin.
Exercise increases blood flow to the skin and promotes a glowing, healthy-looking complexion. Working out for just 30 minutes four or five days a week can make a huge difference, suggest experts
