Everyone loves a good bold lip and if you’re finding it difficult to pull the look off because your lips tend to get dry and flake easily, use these five hacks.
1. Buff Away Flakes With A Toothbrush And Hydrate Right After
You don’t always have to splurge on expensive lip scrubs to get the smoothest of lips.
After brushing your teeth (it helps make the bristles softer), make sure to brush your lips with them. Alternatively, use a clean and dry spoolie to get the same effect.
Afterwards, be sure to moisturise your lips with lip balm.
2. Don't Apply Lip Balm Too Much
The skin on your lips are a lot thinner than the skin on other parts of your body which is why they require some extra help in getting moisturised — thus lip balm.
However, if you tend to apply too much and not exfoliate daily, your lips’ natural cell turnover rate will struggle to create new cells and will work even harder to push the excess waxes and dead skin cells from your lips.
3. Warm Your Lip Pencils
While it’s important to use a sharp lip pencil whenever you’re lining your lips, make sure they’re just slightly “melted” so they glide on smoothly.
4. Turn Glossy Lipsticks In Matte With This Trick
Matte lipsticks are notorious for being drying so if you fancy a particular glossy lipstick but want to get that full matte effect, try this trick: use a glitter-free blush shade that’s sort of similar to your lipstick colour and gently tap it onto your lips.
Alternatively, use translucent powder!
5. Don't Lick Your Lips... Ever!
Saliva contains digestive enzymes that can further dry lips out.
