These cafes in the west side of Singapore are worth visiting for great coffee and delicious food. Find out what they are below:
1. Butter My Buns
Tucked away in the campus of the National University of Singapore, we’re sure this cosy corner is a place of solace for many stressed out students, but few know that non-students are free to visit this cafe too.
We love the sweet treats here, from honey truffle Belgian waffles topped with soft serve ice cream to French crepes and more.
2 College West, Stephen Riady Centre, NUS UTown
2. The Tiny Roaster
This artisan coffee studio is not your typical cafe – they serve some freshly roasted, passionately hand-brewed coffee. And pretty much only cafe, save for some cakes – so you get to appreciate it in its full glory without any food overshadowing it.
From nutty flavour profiles to floral tones and creamy cuppas to more acidic brews, this is every coffee lover’s dream.
Coffee enthusiasts can also sign up for the brewing, roasting and espresso sessions conducted in the studio.

3. W39 Bistro and Bakery
With its colourful vintage aesthetic and sentimental knick-knacks from yesteryear, stepping into this charming neighbourhood gem is like entering the familiar cottage of your childhood.
The menu reads well, from a healthy Quinoa Salad to more indulgent Pork Loin Cordon Bleu, but most people are here for their homemade cakes – our favourites are the Red Velvet as well as the Rainbow Cake.
39 Jalan Mas Puteh
4. Paddy Hills
Let’s just say we’ve willingly travelled to the far end of Singapore to this cafe multiple times, and not once has the food disappointed.
Our favourites at brunch: the legendary Berry Muffcake, and the Pan-Fried Seabass on a bed of rosti blanketed by a sunny side up.
Even the dinner fare is beyond mind-blowing — we recommend the Squid Ink Rice with mentaiko sauce, sous vide egg and flank steak.
38 South Buona Vista Road
5. Pits and Pans
This no-frills cafe hidden in the Nanyang Community Centre prides itself for its specialty burgers — think cheesy, smoky, medium-well patty. But we say give their pastas and pizzas some love, too.
Plus, most dishes are under $10 — it’s as wallet-friendly as it gets.
60 Jurong West Street 91
6. The Usual Place
This must be many of the residents’ usual place — you’ll spot many comfortably dressed patrons in this homely space, as though they simply nipped down to this cafe for a bite.
Serving honest food with a creative spin, must-tries include the “Eggs and Cheese” Benedict, as well as the hearty Western fare that’s amped up with a local twist, like the Salted Egg Prawn Pasta.
#01-73, 346 Jurong East Street 31
7. Dean and Deluca
Many know of their outlet that’s nestled in the heart of Orchard Road but not of this one in the west.
Hailing from New York City, Dean and Deluca makes for the perfect weekend bunch — think American breakfasts, pastries and more.
While you’re there, get yourself some of their home brand sweet treats. Our favourite is the Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Cashews.
#01-01 HillV2, 4 Hillview Rise
8. Buck Tile St. Cafe
You’d find an ice cream parlour serving waffles at the turn of every other street, but what drew us to Bucktile St. Cafe is their unique, eye-catching blue velvet waffles.
If your sweet tooth can handle more sugar, try some of the cakes as well. We love the Scooby Doo Speculoos Cake, a dense chocolate and cookie butter cake, and the crowd favourite ondeh ondeh cake with rich coconut and brown sugar flavours.
104 Faber Drive
9. Jimmy Monkey Cafe
Set up by a true blood native Melbournian (and we all know how much they love their coffee), Jimmy Monkey promises the “ultimate coffee experience”, with amazing coffees made with beans roasted on-site from some of the best independent and Rainforest Alliance Farms.
On the food front, expect humble fare like toasted foccacias to rustic pastas and frittatas.
#01-51 One-North Residences, 9 One-North Gateway
10. Sunday Folks
Their known for their waffles and ice cream but Sunday Folks also serves up some mean cakes and coffees.
Be sure to get there early though because the cafe usually has snaking queues with people waiitng to go in.
#01-52 Chip Bee Gardens, 44 Jalan Merah Saga
