1. Add cushions
Go wild with cushions! Use different sizes, different materials (velvet and linen), and varied shades. Best of all, you can change them any time you like.
To add an exotic element to a room where you may dream yourself away to a tropical paradise, try adding the Fruiticana Leaf Cushion, $75 from Danish Design Store.

2. Add a rug
A rug helps to visually tie everything together. You can be as minimalistic or bold as you desire, just ensure you get the right size, so it doesn’t dwarf or overwhelm the room.
For a strong graphic expression in complementary tones of light blue and darker green, try adding the Kongstrup Rug, $129 from Ikea.
3. Bring some outdoors indoors
Don’t worry if you don’t have green fingers. Head to Ikea and pick up a few small artificial potted plants. Add them to any open shelving, on a tray on your dining table, or even in the bathroom. It makes all the difference!
For a small trio of potted plants to decorate around the house, try adding the Fejka Artificial Potted Plant, $9.90 from IKEA.
4. Go for shades of colour
Don’t just choose a single colour for a space and get stuck there. Always explore how to incorporate darker and lighter shades of it into the space. If you’ve got an emerald green wall, incorporate mint-toned side tables and a tropical print pillow.
5. Do a feature wall
Quick and affordable, it instantly transforms any room. Adding a pop of colour behind the bed can do wonders to give character, without having to do much else. Choose an accent wall paint, or textured wallpaper, to spruce up spaces.
