5 Things You Might Not Know About Your Vagina
1. It ages just like the rest of our body

Our vagina ages just like the rest of our body. In the same way as our skin loses elasticity through the years, the vagina does the same. After menopause, when there is less estrogen in the body, the vagina gradually becomes paler due to reduced blood supply, as well as flatter and less stretchy.
2. It's the most elastic part of the body but can still weaken

The vagina is the most elastic part of the body. But sometimes vaginal muscles can weaken to a point where surgery may be an option. This usually happens after a woman gives birth vaginally, which stretches out the tissues. They then shrink back down, but not to where they were before.
3. It is changed irrevocably after childbirth

After childbirth, the vagina is irrevocably changed: And not just on the inside. Our labia – the part of the vulva that most people call the “lips” – can get bigger after vaginal deliveries. This may lead to irritation, as they get rubbed against clothing or get in the way of activities like exercise and sex.
4. It can fall out of your body

It is possible for your vagina to fall out. With utero-vaginal prolapse, the vagina, or the uterus and vagina, can protrude outside the body due to a weakness in the supporting tissues. This can happen after childbirth or after menopause from lack of pelvic support, but it’s rare and fortunately, repairable.
5. It can embarrass you with problems like leaking

A weak pelvic floor can cause problems with incontinence. Some people think it’s to do with the vagina, it isn’t. Stress Urinary Incontinence can cause urine leakage throughout the day. Simply laughing, sneezing or coughing can become the cause of an embarrassing situation.
How You Can Feel Rejuvenated
Most women seek out vaginal rejuvenation for medical reasons, or to enhance their sense of overall well-being. For some, vaginal rejuvenation procedures help restore self-confidence, and alleviate anxieties related to intimacy.

The Ultra Femme 360 is a radio frequency vaginal rejuvenation treatment, based on the same platform as the BTL Exilis Ultra 360 device, that targets the labia and vaginal canal. Focused thermal energy is designed to stimulate the production of new collagen fibres and helps encourage blood flow to the area. This treatment has been said to help tighten and raise the labia, decrease the diameter of the vaginal opening and canal, and improve natural sensation and lubrication.
The 360-degree design of the applicator enables practitioners to cut down treatment time to 8 minutes. “The Ultra Femme 360 is an incredibly exciting solution to many issues in women’s health. My average patient receives three to four treatments about seven to ten days apart and sees improvement that is sometimes noticeable just after a single treatment,” says Dr Shelena Lalji, Medical Director of Dr Shel Wellness & Aesthetics.
