Did you know that some of your favourite Korean beauty products are created by Amorepacific? In case the name doesn’t ring a bell, it’s the company which brings you some of your favourite brands like Laneige, Sulwhasoo, Mamonde, Innisfree, Etude House and Hera.
In a competitive beauty industry like Korea’s, Amorepacific is constantly pushing boundaries by creating exciting and new beauty products. In fact, they gave us three completely new product categories which are loved by Koreans, and women all around the globe.
Cushion Compacts
Inspired by ink stamps, cushion compacts were created to help solve a beauty problem – touching up on sun protection without smudging makeup. Their solution was a lightweight foundation formula, high in SPF, which is easy to carry around. While the idea was simple, finding the right sponge was actually far from easy. It took Amorepacific years before they found a suitable sponge material and came up with the first cushion compact in 2008.
The proprietary Cell-trap Technology allowed them to formulate a low viscosity sunscreen and skincare which stays in the sponge, but applies as a lightweight, fluid layer. This hybrid base makeup, sunscreen and skincare has since become a staple in many women’s makeup routine, loved for its portability and versatility.

Sleeping Masks
While busy women would lament that skincare routines often take too long, there’s always one product they can leave on and forget about it while they snooze – sleeping masks. Created in 2002 by Amorepacific, the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask (then called the Water Sleeping Pack), was a revolutionary new product category which harnesses skin’s natural healing cycle at night. During this time, skin recovers from damage accumulated during the day, so it’s essential to give skin what it needs to aid in this process. Sleeping masks capitalise on skin’s ability to renew at night, while imparting hydration without feeling uncomfortable on skin.

The first boosting essence from Amorepacific was introduced in 1997 – the Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum EX. It remains one of Sulwhasoo’s signature products and helps to bring glow and enhances skin’s natural radiance. Subsequently, brands under the Amorepacific Group like Hera, Innisfree and Laneige started their own version of the boosting essence, bringing the benefits of including a boosting essence in their skincare routine to a wider audience.
