How To Wake Up Looking Beautiful

#1 Sleep more

This might seem like a no-brainer, but your body utilises the time you’re asleep to repair itself. Having less sleep often means you end up looking fatigued, so be sure to clock in at least seven to eight hours of sleep.

#2 Sleep on your back

Sleeping on your side and stomach causes pressure and friction on your face. Over time, the collagen and elastin within your skin will break down, forming fine lines and wrinkles.

#3 Use silk pillowcases

If you have to sleep on your side, use silk pillowcases as they cause less abrasion on both hair and skin. No more waking up with weird kinks in your hair now.

#4 Avoid carbs for dinner

According to dermatologist Nicholas Perricone during her interview with InStyle, “When our diet’s high in glycemic carbohydrates, our features take on a soft, doughy appearance.” Opt for proteins and vegetables for dinner if you want to wake up with defined cheekbones in the morning.

#5 Use spot treatments

With stress and hormones working against your skin, it’s inevitable to have a few pimples every now and then. Use spot treatments like the Nexcare Acne Patch or Mario Badescu Drying Lotion to treat pimples while you sleep. They’ll be more manageable under makeup by the time you wake up.

#6 Bun your hair

Divide your hair into two (or more) sections, twist them into buns and secure with pins — just make sure that it’s comfortable when you lie down and do it when your hair is completely dry. You’ll wake up with gorgeous curls that don’t require heat styling. Just use some styling products like curling water and hairspray to set the curls and you’re good to go.

#7 Wear gloves and socks

Give your hands and feet a good scrub when you shower at night, and apply creams on them before putting on socks and gloves — they’ll keep the moisture in, especially if you sleep in an air-conditioned room. Remove them in the morning, and you’ll notice that your hands and feet feel super soft to the touch.

#8 Put on a sleeping mask

Sleeping masks like the Kenzoki Belle Du Jour Dream Night Mask and innisfree Whitening Pore Sleeping Pack moisturise and repair skin while you sleep. You’ll wake up in the morning looking fresh and radiant, plus, make-up goes on smoothly as skin is more hydrated and smooth.
