Loreal Paris extraordinary oil sleek shine range review

Hair is as personal as it is public, and that dichotomy explains the relationship many women have with their hair. For some of us, it’s a reflection of our identity and our self-esteem. So when concerns like frizziness, dullness, hair loss, or dandruff come up consistently, it’s no wonder that it affects how we feel about ourselves.

The French ingredients behind the new L’Oreal Paris Extraordinary Oil Haircare Range

When it comes down to it, the best shampoo for you depends entirely on considerations like hair concerns, ingredients, scent or application. If you’re unsure where to start, you won’t go wrong with one of the most popular haircare brands. L’Oreal Paris Extraordinary Oil is the world’s number one hair treatment brand, and according to a consumer report done by Daily Vanity in 2019, they’ve been the number one trusted brand by Singaporean women since 2017.

L’Oreal Paris recently extended its L’Oreal Paris Extraordinary Oil brand to introduce new shampoos and conditioners.

The Sublime Shine range is for those with coloured and dull hair. It can help boost radiance in the hair by 154 per cent after one use. Infused with Precious French Rose Oil, this treatment helps to revive hair radiance from within. The process of extraction is laborious and extensive, and it is all to ensure the integrity of the rose oil. First, 10kg of fresh roses are handpicked by farmers daily before dawn in the rose fields of France. Then, they’re dried in a controlled temperature of 25 to 30 degrees celsius for four to five days. Next, they go through a 48-hour long maceration process. During these 48 hours, they produce pure essential rose oil that’s rich in antioxidants and Vitamin C and Vitamin E to help revitalise the hair.

The review and results

My hair concerns:

As someone who’s bleached and coloured her hair intensively over the last two years, I wanted to try the Sublime Shine range to help treat my dull strands. My hair is a mixed bag of everything under the sun: a combination of oily scalp and dry ends as well as hair loss to top it all off. I’ve been looking for products that will help hydrate, restore shine, all without weighing down my fine hair.

Application:

I’m usually averse to scents that are too cloying, but both the L’Oreal Paris Extraordinary Oil Sublime Sleek and Shine range have a subtle fragrance. The aroma is recognisably floral, but it’s gentle and relaxing and makes me feel like I’m in a spa.

Even though I have short hair, I use about two pumps for most shampoos that I’ve tried. But for the L’Oreal Paris Extraordinary Oil Sublime Shine Shampoo, one pump alone was enough to cover my scalp as it lathers richly. I typically rush through the shampoo step of my routine because I dislike the squeaky feeling that most products leave after-rinse. But in the past week, I really took my time working the shampoo in the scalp and even after-rinse, my hair still feels hydrated. Though the shampoo is infused with precious French essential oils, it didn’t leave my scalp or hair feeling greasy or heavy.

As for the L’Oreal Paris Extraordinary Oil Sublime Shine Conditioner, one pump is enough for me as I prefer not to overdo it and weigh down my fine hair. The thick texture is closer to that of a hair mask. I was impressed by how it deeply nourishes my hair without weighing it down. Three to five minutes alone is enough to feel a difference but I love to leave it in for 15-30 minutes for a pampering treatment. While most conditioners feel hydrating initially and don’t make much of a difference after my hair is dry, this one obviously nourishes my strands.

The results:

After one wash I was already able to see an obvious difference in the hydration of my hair. It wasn’t as frizzy as it typically would be, and I felt like the strands were softer than usual too. To be sure it wasn’t a fluke, I kept up with the routine for a little over a week.

After a week, I was able to see consistent visible differences. Instead of the usual frizz and dullness, my hair was looking more shiny and sleek. It seemed like the dark tones in my hair became intensely richer and the coloured strands boosted in their vibrancy. I love how soft and nourished my hair looks and feels now. And I can only assume that it’ll continue to get more radiant with regular use.

The recommended three-step routine to transform your hair

Aside from your usual shampoo and conditioner duo, you should also consider adding a hair oil to your routine. While hair oils may typically be associated with greasy or heavy formulas, L’Oreal Paris’ hair oils are the world’s number one hair treatment oil that’s formulated with a premium salon-quality finish that’s lightweight, nourishing, and non-greasy.

With five versatile uses, L’Oreal Paris’ hair oils have multi-tasking abilities depending on your preferred routine and concerns. Use it as a pre-shampoo nourishment to add hydration and oil back to the hair. If you blowdry your hair or use styling tools, you can use it for heat protection up to 230 degrees celsius. Another alternative is an overnight treatment to deeply nourish the hair. You can also use it as a one-step styling treatment to help tame any frizz, and use the hair oil as a finishing touch to instantly add a healthy shine to your locks.

Hair oil is the secret to salon-quality commercial-worthy hair. And there’s no doubt that you’ll see a major difference once you add it to your routine. If you’re not sure where to start, here’s the recommended routine depending on your hair concern:
