Metallic lips have been popping up left, right and centre in the past year, and with glitter and metallic accents adorning lips on the Spring 2017 runways, it’s about time we rounded up some great metallic options for your smackers.
While we’re in definite lust with the Pat McGrath Lipstick Kits that made a massive impact at the recent DKNY SS17 presentation, the following options are a lot more affordable and easier to obtain.
Of course, when in doubt or looking to make your lips sparkle without any extra lip products, you can always mix some sparkly eye shadow pigments (the more finely milled the pigment, the more luxe it will look) with clear lip gloss to get a gorgeously glittering pout.
#1 Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks (metallized), $29
Metallized is just one of the finishes available in the range of 100 Vice lipsticks from Urban Decay that launched in August. There are 13 shades in the collection with this metallic finish, ranging from very light peachy nude colours like Trick to deep coppery shades like my personal favourite, Conspiracy.
#2 Colourpop Ultra Metallic Lip, US$6
As the most budget-friendly option of the lot, these metallic liquid lipsticks from Colourpop are a fairly new addition to their line of lip products. There are at least 10 shades in the range, with some more wearable than others. In fact, the shade Zebra is a close dupe for Conspiracy from Urban Decay, though the formulas are very different. The only thing to look out for is the shipping cost, so look for it on Carousell or Shopee if you’re just getting a couple of things as it’ll work out to be more affordable that way.
#3 Kylie Cosmetics Metals, US$18
You’re not alone if you want to hop onto the Kylie bandwagon. Aside from all the drama surrounding the black metal Ky Majesty lipstick, the other shades are actually quite gorgeous. A pretty big drawback if you’re looking to snag a single lipstick is the rather hefty shipping fee, so consider buying in batches with your girlfriends to save on shipping.

#4 Milani Amore Matte Metallic Lip Creme, $18 from Carousell
These were initially touted as the superior and affordable dupe for the Kylie Cosmetics metals, though they aren’t sold in stores here which makes them slightly tedious to obtain (most Carousell sellers require you to pay by bank transfer). That said, they are more affordable than almost all the other options on this list.
#5 Too Faced Melted Metal, $33
If coppers, blacks and other bold shades are too much for you, the Too Faced metal range is a lot lighter, pinker, and more demure. They’re liquid lipsticks that come in small squeeze tubes and a built-in applicator tip that makes application a breeze. If pinks, corals and a rare light purple sound like your colours, check these out.
#6 Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick, $32
Similar to the Vice lipsticks from Urban Decay, the metallic Kat Von D lipsticks are just a few shades from her Studded Kiss Lipstick range. They’re long-wearing and matte, which is perfect for night time, and also come in a slew of crazy colours like the Metallized Vice lippies.
