Pimples are a universally frustrating occurrence. They sometimes hurt, they stick out like a sore thumb, and they sometimes leave scars behind if you aren’t careful with how you treat them.
Anyone who has ever tried to hide a pimple with concealer will likely have experienced this at some point. You know when blemishes swell up to that really smooth and almost shiny stage? Everything from your acne treatments to concealer just slides right off the spot.
I can’t take credit for this handy hack, because I first read about it sometime last year. Urban Decay’s founder Wende Zomnir mentioned in an interview that she sometimes uses a little eye shadow primer, specifically the brand’s Primer Potion, to alter the texture of blemishes (changing them from shiny-smooth to velvety) so that concealer has some texture to grab onto.
It’s a hack that makes complete sense, if you think about how well eye shadow primers help your eye shadows to go on more intensely, while also helping them to stay put all day. Primers also form a barrier that keeps your concealer in place, so you’re also less likely to rub it off accidentally.
What do you think? Try it out tonight when you’re touching up your makeup and let us know if this works for you!
