Since her breakthrough role as Gao Jieyu in Unriddle 2 (2012), Singaporean screen darling Rebecca Lim has steadily and surely etched into the minds of people here, and is pretty much a household name. But besides her commendable acting chops that have garnered her two Best Actress wins at Mediacorp’s Star Awards, Becks, as she is often affectionately called, is also a fashionista.
Classy, feminine and never boring, we celebrate Rebecca’s 33rd birthday (Sep 26) by showing you four ways you can cop her style. Happy birthday, Rebecca!

Who says you can’t wear sequins in the day? Rebecca is here to challenge that notion with this sparkly black sequin mini dress she wore to a Mercedes Benz event (she is its brand ambassador). We also love how the ruffled details around the neck and wrists add a touch of geek chic to balance out the glamorous sequins. Bonus: You can skip accessorising as the dress is already a showstopper.

Try this black and grey sequin ombré dress from Raquel Diniz. The wrap dress silhouette is flattering for most body types while the colour scheme is appropriate enough to not incur irate e-mails from conservative bosses and HR. Finish with a pair of slinky sandal heels and a bold red lip.
A little black dress is one of those fashion essentials we can always depend on to look good. But if we’re looking to spice up the perennial favourite, take a cue from Rebecca who opted for a piece with interesting details such as the ruffle trimming and the overlapping panel and slit to keep things interesting and stylish — not that she can ever looks anything less.
At first glance, this gown from Redemption looks like any regular printed black dress. But don’t be fooled — it sports an asymmetrical hemline that shows off your right leg — the hem ends just below the crotch, so don’t worry no peekaboo here — while the left leg is covered entirely. We recommend pairing it with leather ankle booties for a bolder look.
We know, designer bags cost a pretty penny. But in exchange for paying more, you’re guaranteed a bag that’s a) well-designed and well-made and b) can instantly upgrade any outfit. Just look at how Rebecca’s pale pink 30 Montaigne bag from Dior stood out against a mild cream and printed ensemble. And you can tell that Rebecca invests in luxury handbags too — scroll through her Instagram feed and you’ll find that she has carried various designs from Dior, Gucci and Kate Spade.

Try Loewe’s Postal bag, the latest addition to the Spanish label’s line-up of lust worthy handbags. Made with a rigid frame, the boxy bag is shaped like the postcard, where its name comes from. To make the bag more reminiscent of its namesake, the Loewe anagram appears like a stamp on the upper right corner — a playful detail that attests to the design prowess of designer Jonathan Anderson.

Becks is by no means a short woman (she’s 1.66m tall). But in this photo, she looks like she could pass off as one of the towering models who stomp the runways of Milan or Paris. She achieved that silhouette by pairing a cropped top that ends above the belly button with a sleek pair of high-waisted wide-legged trousers. The pair of pants especially, helps create an illusion of longer legs as it creates a continuous vertical perspective — simple yet effective.
