It was a galaxy of stars at this year’s Golden Globe Awards! And this Hollywood awards show was like no other, as almost all of the women turned up in black dresses, in solidarity with the Times Up movement. But that didn’t stop them from looking their best. Here, we look at the best hairstyles to be inspired by, from Kate Hudson to Kerry Washington:
SHORT: Kate Hudson
The actress, who chopped off her locks for a movie role last year, shows us how to pull off a classic pixie cut by accessorising with a thin velvet headband. Simple and chic!
SHORT: Claire Foy
The Crown‘s leading lady also rocked a pixie, but preferred to keep it slicked back with a sharp deep side parting. The resulting look is fierce yet feminine, and slightly androgynous, and puts the spotlight on her beautiful features.
MEDIUM: Margot Robbie
If you have stick straight hair, make like the I, Tonya star with glamorous waves that instantly add life to your tresses. Margot’s stylist used a ghd flat iron, a wide-toothed comb, a rattail comb and hair clips to achieve her look. Want shiny hair like her too? Check out this list of must-have products.
MEDIUM: Kerry Washington
If you prefer a more textured look, opt for sexy, voluminous curls as seen on the Scandal actress. A deep side part enhances fullness, especially at the crown.
MEDIUM: Alison Brie
We love Alison’s Audrey Hepburn-esque updo and piecey bangs that give her a youthful glow. To keep the crown voluminous and not flat, give damp hair a few pumps of hairspray or styling product before blow-drying.
LONG: Dakota Johnson
To give a regular ponytail tons of body and volume, try this 60s-inspired look which involves prepping hair with dry shampoo or a bodifying hairspray and gently backcombing at the crown to really add fullness.
LONG: Jessica Biel (front)
Jessica’s hair was pulled back into an elegant low ponytail, but wait till you see how it looks like from the back…
LONG: Jessica Biel (back)
Her stylist, Adir Abergel, wrapped a portion of her ponytail with a thin black cord or ribbon, which adds a unique twist to the classic ‘do.
LONG: Jamie Chung
Jamie rocked grown-out roots and kept her look sleek and sharp with a middle parting and hair tucked behind the ears to show off her jewellery.
LONG: Christina Hendricks (front)
For a more classic and sweet style, team wispy curtain bangs with a ribbon-wrapped updo a la Christina Hendricks.
LONG: Christina Hendricks (back)
Her hairstylist Lacy Redway posted this image with the caption: “Hair details tonight for #christinahendricks at the @goldenglobes. I used velvet ribbon and topped it off with a Barrette by @jenniferbehr”
LONG: Lily James (front)
From the front, Lily’s full and heavy bangs accentuate her eyes and frame her face perfectly…
LONG: Lily James (back)
While the rest of her hair was swept up into a low, romantic knot that embraces flyaways for a lassiez-faire look.
