We’re not asking for much, we just want a concealer that has high coverage, a creamy consistency, and is going to stay put throughout the day. Some concealers immediately deliver (we heart you guys) but some need extra attention to do as they’re told.

There are some things you can do to ensure the concealer looks as flawless as possible, such as moisturising your skin to make sure the area isn’t dry and patchy, priming your face, using a green colour corrector beforehand, and then setting the concealer with a translucent powder after.

Here’s another little pearl of wisdom: typically, stick or pot concealers work better than liquid ones, so keep an eye out for those. Don’t be afraid that a thicker concealer will be tough to blend..the trick is to use your fingertips so the warmth from your skin makes the concealer a little easier to work with.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof 12-Hour Concealer, $37

#1 Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof 12-Hour Concealer, $37

Stick concealers are truly fuss-free and more compact, which makes them easy to carry around if you want a touch-up before running off to your hot date *swoon*. This one is oil-free, long-wearing, and dries mostly matte, though we recommend still setting it with powder if your skin is on the oily side. It’s also made with amazonian clay, which is meant to help soothe and balance out your skin. Simply dot the concealer wherever you need coverage, and blend with your fingertip.

Cle de Peau Beaute Concealer, $116

#2 Cle de Peau Beaute Concealer, $116

If you’re willing to spend a lot of money on one of the most hyped-up concealers in the world, then this is the one to try. It’s creamy, blends like a dream, and isn’t too drying. And there’s also its convenient packaging to consider. The only thing that gives us pause, is the extremely limited shade range. Oh, and the price tag offers a larger pause too *sharp inhale everybody*.

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, $60

#3 Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, $60

Another old-but-gold concealer is this heavy duty one from Laura Mercier. It’s a double-shade palette that allows you to mix the two shades to customise the perfect concealer match for your skin tone. One of the shades is meant to match the depth of your skin tone while the other is suited to your undertone, and there are six duos to choose from. It’s an intense concealer, which makes it perfect for spot concealing.

Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer, $62

#4 Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer, $62

Available in 16 shades, this skin enhancer is a tad pricey, but the container holds a good amount of product compared to other concealers, and a little goes a long way. You can mix it into some moisturiser to sheer out the coverage and wear it as a more lightweight all-over base, but we recommend it more for concealing blemishes and imperfections. It’s supposed to be waterproof, yet hydrating with ingredients like jojoba oil and honey. One unique feature is the slight blurring effect it gives your skin, which can help make any pores, scars or acne less visible. Buy it online via net-a-porter.com, beautybay.com or beautylish.com.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Re(Marc)able Full Cover Concealer, $46

#5 Marc Jacobs Beauty Re(Marc)able Full Cover Concealer, $46

This is a great concealer both for spot concealing and under eye coverage. Some shades do a great job at colour correcting dark circles as well. The formula is easy to work with, and doesn’t dry out even if you’ve had it for agessss, even from your 8am meeting to your post-work pilates session. There are a good number shades, perfect for fair to medium-tan skin tones, but the range is a little lacking if you have skin that’s on the deeper end of the spectrum. It applies best with a synthetic brush, and we recommend setting it with a powder.

NARS Stick Concealer

#6 NARS Stick Concealer, $40

While most people prefer the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (or RCC, which we have major love for), this one is better suited to covering up acne. When it comes to dark eye circles and highlighting the face, there are few concealers that live up to the RCC in terms of blendability, coverage, and staying power. The stick concealer on the other hand, has a thicker consistency that we find sits better on a blemish without showing too much texture.
