All The Highlights From Our Super Fun Tour De Beauty Event

On March 10, 2018, The Singapore Women’s Weekly held our inaugural Tour De Beauty. Celebrating some of the award winners from our Best of Beauty Buys 2018, the tour took our group of specially-invited guests from beauty store to store. And as they “toured”, they took part in fun activities and challenges, getting the opportunity to explore and experience the winning products. Best of all, every guest went home with full-sized beauty products and a goodie bag, worth over $450, from The Weekly, Kiehl’s, Shiseido and Urban Decay.

In her welcome speech, The Weekly’s Barbara Koh said, “We wanted to have an exciting, engaging, intimate event where guests could come with a BFF, and spend an afternoon getting up close and personal with the latest skincare and makeup. The Tour de Beauty was inspired by a pub crawl, but instead of stopping at pubs for drinks, we would be travelling from one beauty store to another, discovering more about the brand, the people behind it and, of course, its fantastic award-winning products.”


The flag-off for the Tour took place at the Shiseido counter at Tangs Orchard. Guests were introduced to the Shiseido Makeup Synchro Skin White Cushion Compact, as well as got a sneak peek at the Japanese brand’s new Essential Energy skincare range. At each pit stop, there were two challenges to accomplish, and one of them at Shiseido was to identify their best shade for the cushion compact. Guess correctly and you’d get a full-sized compact to keep. For the social media challenge, they had to put on their thinking caps and share “My Energy Is…”. One of the best quotes for the afternoon had to be from Great Women Of Our Time alumna Eunice Olsen, of WomenTalk, who shared, “My Energy Is… inspiring women who never give up no matter what.” Kiss92 DJ Charmaine Yee’s was cheekier: “My Energy Is… wine!”


The Tour then continued on to Ngee Ann City, where the ladies had a colourful time playing with the award-winning Naked Heat palette in the Urban Decay store. Challenges included matching the names to the colours (not as easy as it sounds!) and a flat lay social media challenge featuring the latest Urban Decay x Kristen Leanne makeup collection. Those who completed their game cards got to choose two full-sized products of their choice – and naturally, the Naked palettes were favourites.

Then it was on to the Kiehl’s store next door, where guests got to put their senses to the test as they identified the brand’s different masks, including the award-winning Calendula & Aloe Vera Soothing Hydration Mask, while blindfolded. They also got to ask the consultants questions about their skin type and concerns, and on accomplishing their challenges, got to pick three full-sized products to take home. New must-haves included the reformulated Ultra Light Daily UV Defense, which comes in a lighter, more comfortable texture; and the Clearly Corrective Brightening & Soothing Treatment Water, named “unicorn tears” due to its holographic appearance.


At the end, each person went home with goodies worth over $450! Kamana Bhaskaran (@socialandstyle) shared, “It was an afternoon of amazing women, fun beauty challenges, and so much makeup! Loved learning about the Best of Beauty Buys 2018 and the latest trends.” Angie Chia (@angiechia) added, “It was such a fun and engaging event, as we all got to play games and learn more about the brands involved. We were in skincare heaven, getting to pick out products that we were personally interested in. Can’t wait to dig my hands into them!” Kiss92 DJ Maddy Barber added, “It’s the most fun (beauty) tour ever.” We agree!
