Korean stars are constantly at the forefront of beauty trends, and it seems like everyone’s headed towards shorter hairstyles this year. Short dos are great in Singapore weather, and can actually be styled in a variety of ways. If you’ve decided to jump on the short hair wave, here are some hairstyles that you can recreate in a jiffy that will elevate your cropped cut. Scroll through the gallery and get inspired:
Put your hair up in a half bun
This is the perfect hairdo for running errands. Twist half of your hair into a messy bun, and pull out a few loose strands for that effortless laidback look.
Curl your ends in
Achieve Seohyun’s c-curl hairstyle by curling the ends of your hair towards your face with a flat iron or a curling iron. Alternatively, if you choose to use a blow dryer, start blow drying at the top, about 15 cm away from your scalp and maintain that distance throughout to prevent your hair from drying out. When blow drying, instead of concentrating the heat on one area, remember to move your blow dryer around. Lock in the shine by finishing off with a blast of cool air.
Dry then texturize
Transforming your fine and limp hair into a voluminous masterpiece can be quite the challenge but don’t resign yourself to thin and lifeless hair. Achieve IU’s textured waves by applying some texturising product when your hair is almost completely dry.
Throw on a hat
Having a bad hair day? Conceal any weird lumps and bumps with a stylish hat like Yoona did. Berets are making a comeback too!
Put on a headband
An absolute must-have for ladies with pixie cuts and shorter bobs, headbands adds volume and texture around the crown. For an added boost around your crown, tease the hair around your hairline before slipping on your headband.
Straighten your tresses with a round brush
Rather than using a flat iron that might create kinks in your hair, ditch your straightener for a round brush and hairdryer to grab even the shortest of hair.
Tame your mane with leave-in conditioner
Add more definition to wispy ends by applying some leave-in conditioner or smoothing serum to the ends of your hair to smooth the cuticle.
Sport the low pony
Having short hair shouldn’t limit you from trying out different hairstyles. To amp up the classic low ponytail look, section your hair into two parts. Section out your hair from the ears, tease it and push up from the back to create volume before securing it with bobby pins. Grab the rest of your hair and gather it into a low ponytail with a hair tie.
Textured and wavy
Cop Sunny’s bouncy and voluminous beach waves by curling your hair in the direction away from your face with a clipless curling wand. Maximise the natural volume that you get with a short cut by air drying your locks instead of using a blow-dryer.
