Everyone is going through something in their lives and I’m no different. I know what it feels like to feel bullied and alone, but I also know that I am strong and capable of many things which is why I was proud to be a part of It’s A Girl Thing.
To be included in a group of great women who want to help and encourage greatness in others is a beautiful thing. I hope that by being open helps others, it will make them feel supported and inspired to experience new things.
The number of people who come up to me and thank me for “being there” during their time of need is what makes me want to continue connecting with people.
I’ve been trying to keep it pretty simple. It’s important to take off all of your makeup at the end of the day so I start with a cleansing water and follow up with a gentle cleanser like Kate Somerville Gentle Daily Wash to make sure there’s no makeup left on my face.
Then I’ll apply a serum. Lately I’ve been loving the H2O+ Infinity+ Renewing Youth Serum to keep my skin plump and youthful. Finally, I’ll apply a moisturizer and eye cream. Sometimes I’ll switch it up depending on how my skin is feeling but that’s about it!
I like to soak cotton pads in cleansing water and keep them in a ziplock bag when traveling. They’re like DIY makeup removing wipes!
Hydrating face masks!
As someone who has suffered with acne since I was 12, I wish I had gotten into skincare sooner.
Makeup is fun, but your skin is your canvas. Invest in good skincare and finding a routine that works for you.
In general, I’ve noticed that a majority of negative comments come from those who judge or make assumptions about someone’s life when they actually have no clue. Sometimes that “hater” is going through their own thing and they project their frustration on others so I question them about it.
But most of the time I find that it’s easy to let a surface level comment roll off your back when you know yourself and know that what they’re saying isn’t true.
Hence, it is important to have a collective platform like It’s a Girl Thing, where girls can
come together to empower each other.
I don’t create to compete. There are so many creators out there doing their thing and it takes the focus away from your own craft if you try and compare your work to others.
I’ve met so many amazing people who I love and support, and Jenn Im in particular has always supported me. I will always appreciate her and anything she does just like I would for any of my friends.
When I’m home I do my best to maintain a work out at least three times a week and eat well.
When travelling, it can be harder (but not impossible) to keep that up but I don’t stress out about missing a workout or my diet because I enjoy food and I want to experience it whenever I am.
I’ve honestly never really considered myself to be that stylish. I simply wear what I like and what I feel comfortable and confident in.
I may dabble in a trend here and there but ultimately if it doesn’t feel like “me,” I don’t wear it. It doesn’t have to be complicated, just try it on and see how it makes you feel.
More often than not you will find a pair of black denim and a leather jacket in my suitcase.
