Bennifer is back and officially off the market. 18 years after they broke up, Jennifer Lopez, 52 has announced her engagement to Ben Affleck, 49.

Lopez made the announcement with a video in her newsletter “On the JLo”, where she appeared emotional and admiring what’s reportedly an emerald-cut pale green diamond engagement ring. She has also teased the news in an Instagram video. Her representatives later confirmed the engagement announcement to People magazine.

The couple met on the set of the rom-com Gigli in 2001, a romantic comedy in which they played criminals stuck on a job together. They struck up a real-life friendship, and later on a romance. However, it was postponed and subsequently called off, before the pair broke up in 2004.

Lopez then went through three marriages, with actor Ojani Noa, dancer Cris Judd, and singer Marc Anthony. She was also engaged to baseball legend Alex Rodriguez before ending the engagement in April 2021.

Ben Affleck also married actress Jennifer Garner, and share three children, before the pair went their separate ways in 2015.

It wasn’t till last year in 2021 that Lopez and Affleck were spotted together again. They also became Instagram official in July, with photos of the two sharing a kiss while celebrating her birthday on a yacht.

In an interview with People, she shared more about the difference in their connection now. “We’re older now, we’re smarter, we have more experience, we’re at different places in our lives, we have kids now, and we have to be very conscious of those things.”
