We’re no stranger to actress Michelle Yeoh’s sword-wielding skills (think films like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and Master Z: Ip Man Legacy) and she’ll soon be showcasing her talents onscreen again because the Malaysian superstar has joined the Witcher-verse.

More specifically, she’ll be starring in ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin‘, the live-action prequel series to the hugely popular main show, starring Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia.

The Star Trek: Discovery and Crazy Rich Asians star takes on the role of Scían, the last member of her nomadic tribe of sword-elves. According to the official character description, “No one can come close to her artistry with the blade, and no one carries as much loss within their heart. When a chance presents itself to retrieve a stolen sacred sword, taken from her fallen tribe by nefarious means, she launches herself into a deadly quest that will change the outcome of the Continent.”

The six-part, live-action limited series is set in an elven world 1,200 years before the world of The Witcher, and will tell a story lost to time – the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal “conjunction of the spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one, says the official press release.

Aside from Yeoh, the series will also see Laurence O’Fuarain in the role of Fjall, born into a clan of warriors sworn to protect a King.

You can also catch Michelle Yeo in upcoming projects like James Cameron’s Avatar sequels, Marvel’s Shang-Chi, the Daniels’ Everything Everywhere All At Once For A24, as well as Navot Papushado’s Gunpowder Milkshake for StudioCanal.
