Do you believe in superstitions? Are you scared of black cats? Can’t resist chucking salt over your shoulder after you’ve spilled some? Turns out, celebrities are (gasp!) just like us and also succumb to a slew of weird customs and beliefs. Curious as to which of your fave celebs fall victim to superstition? Read on and rest assured that celebrities are just as superstitious as the rest of us:
1. Heidi Klum
Before the supermodel was known for her dazzling white smile, she was just another kid with baby teeth. But unlike other German children, Heidi couldn’t relinquish her baby teeth to the tooth fairy. The blonde bombshell has been interviewed numerous times about her “good luck charms” and it’s believed that she doesn’t travel anywhere without her enameled friends.
2. Taylor Swift
T-Swift is obsessed with the number 13, so much so that she even used to write the number on her hand for every performance. In 2009 she spoke to MTV about the significance of the number, “I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks. My first #1 song had a 13-second intro,” she said.
3. Megan Fox
Megan has previously discussed the existence of ghosts, aliens, and even Big Foot. Her reasoning? Just because we haven’t found proof yet, doesn’t mean they’re not out there. She may have a point, but on top of her faith in the unusual, Megan reportedly listens to Britney Spears every time she flies.
4. Serena Williams
Before a big match tennis queen Serena always ties her shoelaces a specific way, brings her shower sandals to the tennis court, bounces the ball five times before crushing it, and even wears the same pair of socks for each set in a tournament.
5. Cameron Diaz
To ward off the effects of ageing, Cameron Diaz has been known to wear a lucky horseshoe necklace given to her by a friend. But even she know her superstitions have limits and says it’s exhausting sometimes: “I knock on wood all day long…constantly.”
6. Justin Bieber
The Biebs, being known for his signature ‘do, shook things up recently by dying his hair platinum blond. The “What Do You Mean?” singer might have more motivations than spicing up his selfies. Some reports say that Justin hopes to have his album go platinum by rocking platinum locks.
7. James Mcavoy
The Scottish celeb may be best known for fighting off bad guys as Charles Xavier in X-Men, but did you know he also fights off bad luck on the first of each month? James McAvoy says “White rabbit” to the first person he sees each month.
8. Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande’s love affair with donuts is no secret, but are her donut hijinks more superstitious than we thought? It turns out the “Break Free” singer used to munch on chocolate donuts before big auditions for good luck.
9. Lady Gaga
The six-time Grammy winner and Emmy-nominated actress told Vanity Fair in 2002 that she has weird superstitions about sex. Lady Gaga said that she avoided casual sex, because she believes that sleeping with someone takes away her creativity, through her vagina.
10. Jessica Alba
At her baby shower in 2008, Jessica Alba gave each of her guests a leather bracelet. Once they put them on, they said a special prayer for the baby, and then she asked them all to keep the bracelet on until after her baby was born, to protect it. Her daughter was born in June, in perfect health.
