Lombok is home to Mount Rinjani, an active volcano on the north of the island. The volcano recently erupted last year and if you look closely, you’ll notice that it’s actually a volcano within a volcano!
There are many multi-day treks, which take you through the Rinjani National Park, where you can choose to climb the summit or rim.

Whilst on Lombok, make it a point to visit the Gili Islands. It’s a short 15-minute boat ride and it’s perfect for snorkelling.
Perfect for day trips, these islands are fringed by white sand beaches and are so accessible.
Whether you’re visiting the Gili Islands or staying in Lombok, be sure to hit up the night markets! They’re full of delicious, fresh and inexpensive food. Dinner is settled!
If you’re in the mood for some pampering, you’ll be glad to know that Lombok also has high-end restaurants serving up fresh local food. It might only have a handful of tables but the Lombok Lodge has a menu that changes daily in accordance to the produce available on the day itself.
Bali might have its temples but Lombok has heaps of culture. From its black clay pottery to clothes, there’s heaps to see, do and buy when you’re on the island.
Called the Pusuk Monkey Forest, it’s similar to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Ubud in Bali.
Just be sure to look after your bags properly and empty your pockets of food so these monkeys don’t try to get them.
With clear waters and soft white sand, the beaches in Lombok are some of the best ones.
