This French bistro has two outlets – one in Ann Siang Hill and the other at Robertson Quay, perfect for a Sunday brunch with your family and friends. Not only are their portions huge (which is great for sharing!), but you’ll definitely want to try their signature Grilled Black Angus Rib Eye Steak with homemade fries and Vigernon butter ($39.80).
PS: Did we mention you’ll get free flow fries with your steak? Worth every cent.
Plus, check out their French Riveria Brunch on Sundays, only at the Robertson Quay outlet.
At 60 Robertson Quay, #01-02, Singapore 238252.
You’ll want to dine at So France – the decor, furniture, ambience and food is typical of a French brasserie at great prices. For instance, their 2- and 3-course set lunches are priced at just $27++ and $32++ respectively.
At #01-51/56 Duo Galleria, 7 Fraser Street, Bugis MRT, Singapore 189356.
La Petite Cuisine
Established in 2006, this bistro is known for its affordable pricing and casual setting. Try their Chilean cod with Sauce Speciale de la Maison ($29.50) and round off your meal with their Dark Chocolate Tart ($7.50).
Alternatively, why not try their Escargot Bourgogne ($17) served on a warm crossiant? Mmm!
At 10 Jalan Serene, Singapore 258748.
At Brasserie Gavroche, framed recipes from the chef’s grandpa line the wall, above hand-picked vintage furniture imported from Paris.
It’s this very respect to French tradition and authenticity that guides their food philosophy, too.
Try the pan-seared scallops with cauliflower puree ($38) or Grandpa Henri’s fish quenelles with crayfish sauce ($36).
At 66 Tras Street, Singapore 079005.
To have only one item on your mains menu is a bold move, but hey, whatever works!
And at this French establishment doling out platter after platter of their classic steak and fries ($34.90), it surely works.
The recipe for success? Their legendary steak sauce — a powerful peppery, slightly tangy the chef is proud to call his secret.
PS: Unlimited fries!
At 36 Duxton Hill, Singapore 089614.
Vineyard @ Hortpark
It’s a feast for your senses at this charming restaurant nestled amidst the verdant greenscape of Hortpark.
Most sumptuously for your taste buds, of course. One you’ll love: the local farmed poulet ($26), embraced in golden brown skin, comes in savoury poultry jus, accented with vegetable and shimeiji mushroom ragout.
At #02-02 Hort Park, 33 Hyderabad Road, Singapore 119578.
Antoinette’s plush look is reminiscent of an elegant Parisian boudoir — without a doubt, it’s worthy of its reference to Marie Antoinette, the last queen of France.
You’d say the same of the food, too, from the brunch faves like eggs florentine ($18) and classic like crab pomodoro ($26) to meticulously crafted sweet treats like mousse cakes.
At #02-33/34, Mandarin Gallery, 333A Orchard Road, Singapore 238897.
When it comes to souffles, only the French and the Japanese dare vie for the crown.
All the better when French-Japanese fusion cafe Miam Miam combines the best of both culinary cultures.
Their signature souffles (from $9.80) and famous French toast ($10.80) — as in, that’s what it’s literally called — are menu stars, must-tries, after their standout mains like the riz au curry.
At #02-14, Bugis Junction, 200 Victoria Street.
Bistro Du Vin
Bistro Du Vin is many kinds of stellar: it’s authentic, the quality is tip-top, and the menu’s for everyone.
Savour the foie gras poele ($28) with griottes cherries soaked in in Armagnac, and braised beef cheek ($35); and of course, no French meal can claim to be the real deal if it’s not accompanied by some fancy fromage (from $23).
Finish with their warm, crusty apple tart ($12). If you haven’t got space, make space.
At #01-14 Shaw Centre, 1 Scotts Road, Singapore 228208.
Step into this restaurant’s space, fondly reminiscent of a Parisien bistrot, and you’d be able to tell these folks are big on tradition and authenticity.
Which means superb French classics like duck confit ($38) and baked escargots ($18) and wines from across French regions, lovingly curated to complement the finesse of French dining.
At 35A Keong Saik Road, Singapore 089142.
