1. Cookhouse by Koufu @ Marina Square
For those that don’t mind forking out for a meal to get some F1 side action for free, head to the Marina Square food court. Not only is it air-conditioned for your comfort, it’s also indoors, which keeps you away from the haze and those pesky mozzies! If you’re really cheap then just get a drink and sit near the glass windows. There’s also the third floor Roof Garden if you don’t mind braving the outdoors.
2. The Helix Bridge
This one’s outdoors so you’re opening yourself up to be bait for the surrounding bugs but it is still possible to watch the F1 race for free from this public bridge with a great vantage view of turns 18 to 21. Tip: Get there early to “chope” a good spot and be prepared to get squished by the crowds.
3. The National Library
We know you’re thinking there’s no way you can watch the F1 race for free from a library but go to the 12th floor and we’ll prove you wrong. There’s a huge window on the left with a view of Suntec City and Marina Bay, where you’ll be able to catch the cars zooming down Esplanade Bridge and onto Raffles Avenue.
4. Shaw Towers
Head to the 11th floor of Shaw Towers’ multi-storey carpark for a perfect view of the race. Make sure you get there early and you’ll be able to watch the F1 cars rev up their engines and race down Raffles Boulevard and turn into Nicoll Highway at 300 kilometres per hour.

5. National Gallery Rooftop
The open-air rooftop overlooking the Padang (where many F1 activities will take place) is sure to be a viewing hotspot. Plus, if you’re feeling peckish or thirsty, there are lots of food and beverage options around like rooftop bar Smoke and Mirrors.
6. Millenia Walk
The overhead linkbridge between Millenia Walk and Marina Square offers a prime vantage point for turn 6, while the mall itself offers unbeatable front-row views of turn 6 and 7 (along Raffles Boulevard). Snap away, and when you’re done, head inside to cool down and do a bit of eating and shopping.
