Accompanying the photo of a pair of baby socks was the caption: “Thank you. We will raise her to be a child who helps the world.” The post garnered nearly 70,000 likes in under five hours, with fans congratulating the star couple, who enjoyed a Bali honeymoon after their private wedding.
Rain and Kim, a Hallyu star known for dramas like Yong Pal and Stairway to Heaven, married in January after dating for about five years. The bride wore a stunning lace, over the knee dress topped with a simple veil, and the groom wore a simple tuxedo with a bow tie and white gloves.
Reports say the wedding cost about USD$1,100 for venue rentals and usher payments. Their wedding mass lasted about 90 minutes. About 100 guests were in attendance, including family members, friends, and the heads of the couple’s agencies
Both the stars had originally planned to have a snowy white wedding in December around the Christmas period but the drama surrounding Korea’s political upheaval prevented them from doing so. Instead, they chose to postpone the wedding till after the New Year.
Would they, or not?
Long before it actually happened, many wondered whether Kim Tae Hee and Rain will marry because they are one of Korea’s top stars, both in their thirties, and have been dating since 2012. Rain actually promised his fans he would let them know when he tied the knot after rumours surrounding his love life got out of control in 2015.
In Rain’s latest single that was released days before the wedding, The Best Present, he sings, “Your name forever will be the biggest happiness,” which referred to his then-fiancée’s name, which means Tae (big) Hee (happiness). He also sings about the ring on the fourth finger and how she’ll “look more radiant than your wedding dress.”
The couple are said to be living in Rain’s residence in Seoul. Combined, the two stars have real estate assets that are worth millions. Kim Tae Hee’s Hannam-dong house and building near Gangnam subway station is reportedly worth USD$17 million, while Rain’s house and building is worth USD$25 million.
