What’s sparking joy for Marie Kondo right now? The birth of her second child.
The 36-year-old Tidying Up star took to Instagram to announce the arrival of her third child, a baby boy. She has two daughters, Satsuki and Miko, together with her husband Takumi Kawahara, who is a TV producer.
She first revealed her pregnancy in January this year, showing off her baby bump with an Instagram post that was captioned, “I have some news! Another bundle of joy on the way.”
This comes five weeks after the news of her new Netflix series, titled Sparking Joy, which is set to premiere this year. She shared on social media, “In this show, I take my teachings beyond the home to share how the life-changing magic of tidying can transform our communities, too. I can’t wait for you to see it!”
In an interview with People, she also revealed she’s not the perfectionist she once was after giving birth, and also shared about how she reacts to her kids’ tantrums.
“I take the time to listen,” she says. “Once they’ve calmed down, I ask them what’s bothering them and then, to let them know I understand, I say, ‘So that made you sad,’ or ‘That’s what you didn’t like.’ I try to honor their feelings,” said Kondo, who also said chaos is part of parenthood and “it’s quite natural for kids to have tantrums — when they do, they do!”
