Royal parents-to-be Duchess Meghan & Prince Harry may still be anticipating the arrival of their first born, but they’ve already nailed down one important parenting trick. And it involves stooping down to a child’s level – literally. Instead of looking down at children, the loving couple (who are no strangers to breaking royal protocol), aren’t afraid to get down on their knees to give a child eye contact and their undivided attention.
This one gesture is small but significant, and perhaps offers a small glimpse into the type of parents they will become. While we await news of the royal birth – reports say Meghan’s due late April, which is so soon!) – here are some super adorable photos of Meghan and Harry with children:

It was clear that Meghan and Harry were absolutely smitten with 5-year-old Luke Vincent, who they met in Dubbo, Australia while on their 2018 royal tour down under. Luke, who has Down syndrome, was the last child in a line of children who were chosen to greet the royal couple.
The children were told not to touch Harry and Meghan as it was protocol, but Harry instantly kneeled down to greet Luke, who instinctively threw his arms around the prince and even rubbed his beard! The moment caught the attention of royal fans all over the world, and just exemplifies Prince Harry’s sweet nature towards kids.
Watch the adorable moment here:
The Duchess of Sussex, who was just a few months pregnant then, also stooped down to embrace Luke. So sweet!
The royal pair got plenty of chances to meet with throngs of adoring fans while on their Australia tour, but they always made sure to linger a little bit longer with the littlest ones. Here, Prince Harry stooped down and learned in to greet a little girl who had dressed up like a princess, crown and all.
While meeting locals in Rotorua, New Zealand, a toddler somehow managed to squeeze past the barriers and ran towards the prince, who was taken by surprise. In a fatherly moment, he put his hands on the boy’s shoulders and then looked around, asking “Whose child is this?” He managed to reunite the boy with his family, of course. Aww!
Besides simply stooping down to their level, Meghan sometimes also keeps a gentle, protective hand on the children which shows her maternal instinct to nurture and protect. It also helps her connect even better with the child, who may feel a little shy to meet her.
Just hours after announcing their pregnancy, the couple were at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo, where they bent down to greet little children who were excited to meet them.
In February 2019, Prince Harry visited a youth centre where he handed out meals to young school children in person. Kids would go up to the table where the prince would assemble a nutritious meal for lunch for them based on their choices. It was a little peek into the kind of sweet, attentive father we’re sure he’ll become.
Watch the sweet act here:
Little ones can easily get overlooked at events like this, but Harry made sure to squat down to their eye level, which signifies respect. He seems to be having quite a serious discussion with the little lady here!
They may have been dressed to the nines, but The Duke and Duchess of Sussex didn’t mind stooping down to greet young fans during a public walkabout in New Zealand.
In another sweet candid moment, a little two-year-old girl broke through the barriers in Rotorua and ran towards the Duchess for a hug. Meghan immediately bent down to embrace her, which we’re sure made the little girl’s day!
When Meghan and Harry visited Birkenhead in England earlier this year, they were inundated with gifts, cards and flowers. But one gift stood out from the rest…
It was a giant teddy bear! The fun-loving prince looked delighted to receive the massive gift, which is probably going straight to their nursery. Meghan reportedly praised Harry, telling her fans he will make “a fantastic father”.
The Duchess had no problem crouching down, with her coat sweeping the ground, in order to talk to her adoring young fans who had probably waited a long time in the cold for her.
After Meghan’s not-so-secret royal baby shower in New York City in February 2019, the royal couple visited Asni in Morocco where they met two young girls waving Moroccan and British flags. The girls were five-year-old Rania Minejam and her sister, two-year-old Rayhana, who seemed completely overwhelmed by the experience.
They crouched down to say hello and Harry complimented them on their matching red outfits, while Meghan showed them the henna tattoo she had received earlier that day.
The next day, also in Morroco, the royal couple stopped to greet another two little girls who were holding flags and flowers, which they presented to the Duchess.
