Actress Drew Barrymore recently announced she will be divorcing her husband of almost four years, Will Kopelman. This marks the end of Drew’s third marriage. Her first marriage, which lasted two months, was to bartender Jeremy Thomas. She was only 19. Her second marriage in 2001 to comedian Tom Green lasted two months.

The pair have two children together, three-year-old Olive and one-year-old Frankie. In their joint statement, Drew and Will said that despite the legal separation, they will continue to put their children as first priority. The pair said, “Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on.”

So, what’s the secret to a lasting marriage that lasts a lifetime? For one, nurturing the connection you have with your husband will help keep the love alive. Start with these tips:

Start The Day With A Kiss
It’s not so much a matter of sparking things up physically but creating an intimate moment, so give your husband a passionate kiss before setting off for work.

Ban The Technology
Constantly checking social media or spending hours in front of the computer or TV can kill intimacy. Switching off from the external world can boost your emotional connection. Agree to shut down all screens at a set time each night.

Prioritise Your Partner
Friendships are crucial for your well-being but you shouldn’t be spending more time with friends than your husband. Nor should you feel closer to them. If this is happening, ask yourself, “Why is it easier to talk to this person than my partner?”

Be Open To Sex
It’s often said that women need to feel loved in order to have sex, and men need sex to feel loved, but being tuned into your physical desires creates a level of intimacy that can be tapped into at an emotional level.
