Following the news that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child, people are already speculating about the royal baby’s name.
Prince George’s full name is George Alexander Louis and Princess Charlotte is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

Albert is a fashion-forward choice at the moment — it ranks as the 69th most popular name in England and is on a steep upward curve. The last royal to bear Albert as a first name was Queen Elizabeth’s father, but it is also one of Prince Harry’s and Prince Andrew’s middle names.
This is the bookies’ favorite already, and it’s a great bet. Alice is a thoroughly royal name, and the princesses who have borne it have been highly admirable. Alice is currently at #24 in the baby name rankings — sitting right next to Charlotte in popularity.
Not only is the name famous for the legendary King Arthur, we almost had an actual “King Arthur” when Henry VII gave it to his eldest son. Sadly, he died aged 15. Queen Victoria later reintroduced the name to British royalty when she gave it to one of her sons.
Eleanor was the royal name extraordinaire back in the Middle Ages, borne by three Queens of England and numerous royal princesses. This name is the 52nd most popular baby name in England and seems set to be on trend once again.
No king of England has ever been named Frederick so if the Duke and Duchess want to stand out they’ll likely choose this one. Still, Frederick was the second name of both King George V and King George VI so it could still be a meaningful choice for the royal family.
With three medieval Queens of England and several princesses with the name, Isabella has perfect royal credentials. The downside is that it has not been used as a royal name since the 15th century.
Another name which ticks the boxes of being popular, royal and current is Sophia. England nearly had a Queen Sophia in 1714 but she died shortly before taking the throne. Sophia is the 12th most popular baby name in the UK.
