When you vacuum seal your food before freezing, it really does help it to last longer but store-bought sealers are often expensive, bulky and just plain unattractive for your wallet and your kitchen countertop. Luckily, we’ve got a simple and easy way to vacuum seal food without using fancy equipment. All you need is a bowl of water and a ziplock bag. Intrigued? We’ll tell you how it works. Place the food you intend to seal in a ziplock bag then submerge the bag in a bowl of water before sealing it up. The pressure of the water will push out the air and mould the bag around the food. Just remember to dry the bag thoroughly before putting it in the freezer.
