Two weeks ago, we went in search of salted egg yolk pastries and desserts (read the post here), and this week the hunt is on for more… but this time it’s for the savoury stuff. Thanks to the wonders of social media and recommendations from followers, we discovered these must-tries to share with you!

Salted egg yolk with pasta? Why not! This plate of angel hair pasta drenched in salted egg yolk cream from Arteastiq looks like the perfect weekend brunch dish. Bonus: Just feast your eyes on those succulent-looking prawns served with it… time to pay Arteastiq a visit.

This desirable bowl of Salted Egg Frites is shared by foodie @msoinkee. Island Cafe & Bar is located on the fourth floor of Tangs at TANG Plaza, and they serve up some really nice Asian dishes (the Laksa here is worth trying). Most diners go there for lunch or dinner, but now that we know these frites exist, it’s good reason to head there for a snack anytime of the day.

Move aside har cheong gai (prawn paste fried chicken), here comes salted egg yolk fried chicken wings to seduce everyone. You can find this dish in a couple of eating establishments now, but the ones at restrobar Pluck always leave us wanting more even after polishing off a plate. Highly recommended as a late night snack on a weekend, accompanied with a mug of cold draft beer. Ah!

This immediately went to the top of our list of must-try weekend eats after we saw the photo posted by food connoisseur @nantheless. Soft shell crab itself is already a firm favourite, but it’s the drizzle of salted egg yolk hollandaise sauce all over which sold it for us. The exciting creation can be savoured at Tanuki Raw, well known for its modern takes on Japanese food.

How can we not mention salted egg yolk fries? It’s fast becoming a popular dish found in a number of restaurants (Arbite Cafe serves up really nice crisp ones while Sin Lee Foods‘ sweet potato version is addictive). But mention salted egg yolk onion rings… we will think of and suddenly crave for those at The Refinery. Try it if you haven’t, we promise you will look forward to going back for more.
