McD’s has taken Singaporeans’ love for the fast-food giant as well as Hainanese chicken rice and melded them into one delicious-looking burger.
Come August 5, it will be launching the Crispy “Hainanese Chicken” Burger, which sees a juicy, crispy chicken patty that’s drizzled with a trio of sauces — you guessed it — ginger sauce, garlic chilli sauce and dark sweet sauce (the sweet sauce comes in a separate sachet), and sandwiched between two fluffy buns. It’ll be priced from $6.60 as an a la carte option and from $8.30 for an Extra Value Meal.
The limited-edition creation is a tie-up with local actor Ben Yeo, who’s an avid cook and an entrepreneur with his own F&B ventures, including an online chee cheong fun business and an izakaya stall.
“My inspiration behind the Crispy “Hainanese Chicken” Burger comes from my love and passion for local food,” he shares.” I grew up eating local food, so I wanted to incorporate a local flavour and taste – with a McDonald’s twist – into the burger!”
“McDonald’s has a strong chicken menu, so naturally what came to mind was a dish that many of us know and love in Singapore – Hainanese Chicken Rice – but of course, with my own interpretation of it,” he added.
“We’re thrilled to have this unique opportunity to partner Ben Yeo to craft the Crispy “Hainanese Chicken” Burger, as a spin on a local favourite. Ben Yeo’s passion for local food, experience in the local F&B scene and love for McDonald’s makes him a natural fit for this collaboration,” says Drina Chee, Senior Director, Marketing & Digital Customer Experience, McDonald’s Singapore.
And that’s not all.
Accompanying the chicken burger is the return of the all-time favourite Crunchy Crisscut Fries as well as the beloved crispy Banana Pie (from $1.40). As a nod to the National Day and to celebrate all things local, the fast-food giant has also launched its own take on the classic local beverage ‘Kopi’ – a new Kopi Frappé (from $4.30).
The Crispy “Hainanese Chicken” Burger, Crisscut® Fries and Banana Pie are available after breakfast hours starting Aug 5, 2021 for takeaway in all restaurants, Drive-Thru and via McDelivery®, GrabFood and Foodpanda for a limited period only, while stocks last.
The Kopi Frappé is available all day, while stocks last and is available at McDonald’s® restaurants excluding McDonald’s® Lido, McDonald’s® Parklane Shopping Mall, McCafé® and Dessert Kiosks.
