10 Asian Aphrodisiacs To Get You In The Mood For Valentine's Day
1. Durian

Believe it or not, the ultra-fragrant King of Fruits could make you rule in the bedroom.

The Asians have long contended that eating durian makes you “heated up”.

And there’s an Indonesian saying, “When the durians fall down, the sarongs go up.”

2. Tongkat Ali

Ask any Singaporean and he or she will tell you that the root of this flowering plant is commonly used to make supplements for improving sexual virility, stamine, energy and blood circulation.

Oh, and the flower also goes by the name, “longjack.” ‘Nuff said.

3. Saffron

The seductive red-gold threads of this Indian spice contains antioxidants including crocin, crocetin and safranal, which are powerful libido-boosters.

It’s even said that Alexander the Great added it to his rice and tea, Cleopatra bathed in it before meeting her lovers, and the Romans sprinkled saffron on newlyweds’ beds.

If it’s good enough for them, it should be good enough for us!

4. Epimedium

Doubt not this herb that’s also called “Horny Goat Weed”.

One legend has it that a flock of goats became overly sexually excited whenever they fed on a particular patch of flowering plants, which the goat herder eventually identified as epimedium.

Another tale claims that the plant was a favourite of a sexually hyperactive mythical creature which enjoyed one hundred orgasms a day.

5. Ginseng

Studies have shown that roots of red ginseng have treated erectile dysfunction and boosted sexual arousal in individuals.

It likely works like Viagra by improving blood circulation to the nether regions.

Fun fact: In Chinese, ginseng means “man root.”

6. Cordyceps

Commonly used in Chinese herbal soups, this sexual potentiator increases the male libido by increasing blood circulation and thus making the erection sturdier, as well as by improving the sperm’s mobility.

Some studies show it’s beneficial in females with infertility issues, too.

7. Shilajit

Formed under the weight of the Himalyan mountains in India and Nepal, this sacred night-black tar is essentially compacted biologically active essential minerals from millions of years of prehistoric plant matter.

Little wonder it gives you legendary stamina in the bedroom.

8. Red Dates

Red dates are rich in nutrients. They can help to strengthen the body and revitalise the nervous system. It can also nourish the blood and calm the mind.

9. Chinese Chives

According to TCM brand Eu Yan Sang, for both men and women, low libido is usually associated with Kidney-yang deficiency. Eating these Chinese chives could address the deficiency and restore balance.

Ginger is said to revitalise the blood and cleanse it too.
