“First, all my clients need to hit at least 10,000 steps a day – that doesn’t mean you have to go to the gym, maybe you go for a walk or maybe you need to go dancing, or take the stairs instead of the elevator but I want you to be more active from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed exclusive to the gym. I give all my clients a Fitbit, an activity monitor that goes on the wrist and keeps track of how active they are throughout the day. So, number one, you have to hit your step goal a day.”
“Sleep is such an important component of not only being healthy and happy but of weight loss. So, I give all our clients a sleep goal of 7 hours of quality sleep. And again that Fitbit thing they wore could tell me how much they slept and how well they slept. So, that was the second daily behavior.”

“I put them all on the body reset diet. And what the body reset diet is, is a very simple jump start to eat healthy and lose weight in a very enjoyable way. For 5 days, I have them have 3 delicious, filling smoothies and 2 crunchy snacks. They all are delicious and have different nutrients and they only take 60 seconds to make with a blender. So no one can give the excuse that they didn’t have time to cook. And then in the next 5 days, they replace their dinner smoothie with a one-dish regular meal – that’s solid food, single dish. Salads, sandwiches, stir fry or sushi and then after that, they drop yet another smoothie every week.”
“You can have a celebratory meal for the Chinese New Year but you don’t have to have three meals a day of gluttony. So identify one or two celebratory meals and make sure you’re balancing them with healthy meals and healthy days of movement. And, even if it’s the festive season, you can still be active, still hit your step goal, still try and get your quality sleep whenever possible.”

“I think rather than worry about hitting the gym, hit your step goal that day. More so, pick one exercise you don’t need a gym – maybe it’s walk lunges or planks or dips. Think simple movements. Pick one a day, put 5 to 10 minutes aside, do it at home, in the office, in a park – Singapore has beautiful parks. It has some of the best walking trails than any place I’ve been to before. Singapore has incredible stairs. Singapore has really an incredible infrastructure to be able to live a healthy lifestyle without going to the gym so we don’t need a gym.”
“I wrote a book several years ago called The 5 Factor World Diet and there’s a chapter on Singapore on some very healthy versions of traditional Singapore meals. That’s definitely an eating plan that you could follow while still having local cuisine. And try the Body Reset Diet. I think it is a very short term way to lose weight safely and enjoyably but it puts you on the right track long-term. You need a healthy, balanced diet and that’s what it is.”

“If you’ve accidentally overindulged and put on some weight over the holidays, definitely eliminate alcohol from your diet. That’s very important too. And cutting out juice – no juice! And I think also hitting an increase in your step goal. Instead of 10,000 steps a day, maybe it’s 14,000 steps a day.”
