The first step to great skin is getting a good, deep cleanse. While a regular salon facial can cleanse your skin, medi-facials go beyond the surface to intensively clean and rejuvenate skin from its deeper layers. These are performed using medical-grade equipment and by trained professionals.
In particular, the Hydrafacial is famous for being a gentle-yet-effective treatment thanks to the patented device that uses a vortex-fusion delivery system to exfoliate, cleanse and hydrate the skin. This system is also renowned for delivering painless extractions. For people with sensitive skin but who still want to get good results, the facial is non-invasive, and combines the benefits of hydradermabrasion, chemical peel and skin-loving ingredients in a gentle format – and each session takes just 30 minutes or less.
You can experience the Hydrafacial, which won Best Calming Facial in this year’s Spa Awards, at The Aesthetics Medical Clinic. Certified by aesthetic doctors, the clinic has been helping patients with wide-ranging skin and body concerns with a plethora of aesthetic treatments – including medi-facials – for 18 years.
The facial begins by cleansing and exfoliating the skin with a mild chemical peel, facilitated by the high-tech Vortex-Fusion device that has a pen-like HydraPeel tip. It is gentle and safe for all skin types and tones. Then, the device uses a vacuum-like tip to purge blackheads, dead skin cells and other pore-clogging debris, while boosting blood circulation as it works across your skin. The vacuum extractions do not hurt and should not leave skin looking red and inflamed.
Next, your skin is infused with a customised cocktail of soothing, hydrating, and anti-ageing ingredients such as antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, and peptides which help to slow down cell ageing, improve hydration and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles respectively. Your experienced therapist will be able to build something that is most suited to your skin.
This facial does not use steam, which can dilate blood vessels and cause redness in sensitive skin.
After just one session, you can expect to see visibly more glowy and firmer skin. However a series of three to six sessions, four to six weeks apart at The Aesthetics Medical Clinic can help to correct uneven tone, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, reduce the look of enlarged pores, and clear and prevent acne.
Spa Awards reviewer Kay Li, who has sensitive skin and rosacea, appreciated how gentle the facial was. She says, “I like that Hydrafacials can help with extractions without irritating the skin as much. The red-light therapy post-treatment also felt very therapeutic and calming. My skin looked brighter and clearer afterwards.”
“I also loved the ultra comfortable Tempur mattress at The Aesthetics Medical Clinic that I was resting on,” she adds.
