How To Care For Your Hair If You Exercise Every Day

June 26, 2018

The hardest part about working out daily just might be the dilemma we face when it ends. Let’s suppose you shampooed your hair the previous night after gym class. Should you wash it again this morning after your jog? Unfortunately, washing your hair daily may result in dry and damaged hair. If you have cancelled your workouts for the sake of good hair, here are five tips to maintain fabulous and healthy hair even if you exercise every single day:

How To Care For Your Hair If You Exercise Every Day
1. Wear a headband

Reduce the amount of sweat in your hair after your work out by wrapping a headband around your hairline the next time you hit the gym. A sweat-absorbing headband absorbs the sweat from your scalp instead of leaving your hair in a sweaty mess as you walk out of spin class.

2. Use dry shampoo before your workout

Dry shampoo is your best friend, especially if you use it before your workout. Using your fingers, work the dry shampoo in sections, keeping the product close to the roots of your hair. It does an expert job at soaking up the oil and debris that will be produced during your workout. But, refrain from using it on hair that is drenched with sweat because that causes the dry shampoo powder to cake up and form an unsightly mess on your scalp.

3. Skip the shampoo

The good news is, with lightweight exercises like like yoga, pilates and walking, you can afford to skip a hair wash. Because we do not produce much sweat during these workouts, you can just comb through and spritz your tresses with a lightweight hairspray to keep your hair smelling fresh for the rest of the day.

4. Just rinse and go

If you can’t fathom the thought of shampooing your hair every other day, minimise the damage to your locks by rinsing your hair with water. This washes out the sweat and dirt from your hair without eliminating the natural oils on your scalp.

5. Use sulfate-free shampoos

Pick daily shampoos designed for daily use. That way, you will not be fighting against your delicate scalp’s natural mechanism of keeping your hair moisturised. Use a light-weight moisturising shampoo without sulfates that won’t over cleanse your hair. Also, make it a point to recondition your hair and scalp with a light spray of hair oil.
