This year marks the professional golf tournament’s 10th anniversary. The event was created in 2008 as a catalyst for growth of the women’s game in Asia, and has grown to be the annual event which ushers in a new generation of tournaments to the region.
A National Qualifying Tournament is also held every year a few weeks ahead of the main tournament, and the winner this time, 17-year-old Amanda Tan (pictured), gets a spot to play at the main tournament.
This year’s tournament also marks the first time it will be held at the New Tanjong Course, which will be a fantastic experience for both golfers and spectators as it offers views set against the Singapore Straits.
19 of the world’s top 20 players – including all of the top 10 spearheaded by the world number one and Rio Olympics silver medallist Lydia Ko (pictured), world number two Ariya Jutanugarn, and defending champion Ha Na Jang, Rio Olympics gold medalist In Bee Park – will make their way to Singapore to play in this year’s tournament.
The 24-year-old South Korean professional golfer has taken part in and won several events, including three LPGA wins. Nicknamed “Energizer Ha Na”, she lights up the golf course with her cool moves and a fun personality, showing that golf is not just a competition but a real enjoyment.

South Korean actor/singer/entertainer Lee Joon Gi headlines the HSBC Women’s Champions Music Festival this year and is set to thrill everyone on stage at his ‘Lee Joon Gi [Thank You] Asia Tour’. Known for his role in the Korean movie The King and the Clown and various Korean TV dramas, the heartthrob has said that he himself is a golf fan and is very excited to debut in Singapore at this prestigious event.
Formed in New York City, the upcoming American band Thirdstory comprises singer-songwriters Elliott Skinner, Ben Lusher, and Richard Saunders. The band has racked up millions of views on their YouTube channel for their covers of famous songs, and they’ve just released their EP Searching. Thirdstory will perform at the HSBC Women’s Champions Music Festival.
