How To Get The No Make Up Look

These days, less really is more. Celebs like Alicia Keys, Fan Bing Bing and Kylie Jenner, have gone out in public without wearing an ounce of makeup.

These days, less really is more. Celebs like Alicia Keys, Selena Gomez and Kylie Jenner (yes! it happened!) have gone out in public without wearing an ounce (or just a tiny bit) of makeup.

If you want to try this look out yourself, here are some ways you can perfect the no make up look!

How To Get The No Make Up Look
1. Prep With Hydration

For makeup to go on smoothly on the skin, your skin needs to be well-hydrated. However, putting on more moisturiser before your foundation makes your skin too greasy and instead of staying put, your makeup would slide off. If your skin feels dry, use a facial mist to help hydrate skin.

Look for a face mist with hydrating properties like the Caudalie Beauty Elixir. Now in a limited-edition bottle designed in collaboration with fashion designer Jason Wu, this mist contains a moisturising blend of essential oils like peppermint, orange blossom, rose and rosemary.

Suitable for all skin types, this paraben-free formula also has grape pulp extract to boost skin radiance. $67 (100ml).

2. Prep Skin For Makeup

Use a primer like the Shu Uemura Stage Performer Block:booster SPF 50 PA+++, $65, before applying your foundation. A makeup primer would help to glide over the skin, blurring out imperfections like enlarged pores and other blemishes. This antioxidant-rich primer helps to set the look for the perfect un-made-up look, and protects the skin against UV rays.

3. Use A Luminous Foundation

For a fresh look, reach for a foundation that offers a healthy radiance over your complexion. Your skin begins to look like it’s glowing from within with the makeup primer blurring any blemishes and a luminous foundation reflecting light off your complexion.

Try the Stila Aqua Glow Serum Foundation, $77, and Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation in Beige, $68, and use just a small amount to avoid looking like you are wearing makeup.

4. Conceal Spots and Scars

If you see any obvious dark spot, scar or dark circles under your eyes, dab on a creamy, liquid textured concealer like IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Full Coverage Anti-Aging Waterproof Concealer, $42. Blend lightly and later a bit of concealer at a time. Too much concealer will make you look overly made up.

5. Use Tinted Lip Balm

A sheer rosy shade on your lips would complete the bare-faced look. You can either use a rose-tinted lip balm like RMK Lip Care Color UV Stick in #02 Pink Shell or #05 Light Red, $39.
