Choose a well-balanced lunch with a good mix of protein, carbs and healthy fats with plenty of veggies. If you’re pressed for time, a food delivery service can deliver wholesome and delicious meals straight to your office. Try a high-protein salad to beat the mid-afternoon slump.
Dehydration kills productivity! Drink plenty of water and herbal tea throughout the day to stay hydrated, and try to aim for around eight glasses. Mix things up by adding slices of lemon or cucumber to your water to add flavour. As air conditioning in the office can be drying for your skin and eyes, remember to step outside at lunchtime for some fresh air.
If you’re pressed for time, why not schedule lunch meetings or eat with your team? This has been shown to improve team bonding and even increase workplace satisfaction. Remember: The team that eats together, stays together!
Swap refined grains for more nutritious, fibre-rich options such as bulgur wheat, steel cut oats or brown rice. Whole grains are a great source of many nutrients including B vitamins, iron, folate and magnesium. As well as having their own unique flavour, they can help keep you fuller for longer.
Keep some healthy snacks on hand to keep hunger at bay between meals. Try some mixed dried fruit or raw nuts such as almonds or walnuts. You could also grab a piece of fresh fruit or high-quality dark chocolate with at least 90 per cent cacao for a nutrient-rich energy boost.
Follow the 80:20 rule. Don’t get so focused on food that you forget to enjoy life and the wonderful journey you’re on. Remember to have fun and enjoy the little moments.
