Natalia Vodianova is a Russian supermodel who has graced the covers of global fashion magazines and been featured in advertising campaigns for brands like Louis Vuitton, L’Oreal, Marc Jacobs, and even Calvin Klein.
Her modelling career aside, the 39-year-old is a philanthropist and is now the ambassador for the French perfume and skincare brand, Guerlain. Vodianova practices self-care with the help of her skincare and beauty fridge.
Here are 11 skincare rules and secrets that Vodianova lives by to keep her jet-setting and stressed skin in check:
“Beauty is all about how you feel inside, and I feel most beautiful when I’m in the forest. This connection with nature reminds me that we’re tiny specks in the universe and born to love ourselves just as we are.”
“I don’t believe in a regular skincare routine. Instead, I add things depending on how my skin feels. Alpha-H’s glycolic acid is incredible, but it’s very concentrated so you need to give your skin a break. My night serums are all from Biologique Recherche.”
“I’ve learnt that while resurfacing acids make your skin smoother and clearer, they can sometimes make it feel a little weaker. So, I make my own rice serum to soothe skin. It’s simple: soak white rice in hot water for four hours, and then rub the grains between your fingers to make a paste, which you then refrigerate before use.”
“To look younger, I use bronzer to contour from my nose to my cheekbones. It instantly makes my face look rounder and sun-kissed.”
“To keep my skincare cool, I have a mini fridge in my bathroom that is full of serums and creams.”
“I love manicures and always opt for a light, healthy-looking shade. Right now, I’m wearing Ballerina by Chanel.”
“The only hair mask that works for my fine hair is Balmain’s Hair Couture treatment. When my hair needs deep conditioning, I’ll sleep with coconut oil in it. Philip Kingsley is what I use every other day when I wash.”
“I live in France, where everybody knows the iconic [Guerlain] fragrance, Shalimar. It’s like a little conversation starter when you’re at an event. It’s a beautiful, romantic scent that I love very much.”
“I can’t live without the occasional crazy massage. The Balmain Spa has a therapist who is just so strong, she completely rips my face apart and I look five years younger when I emerge.”
“To stay relaxed when I’m working I put on a humidifier with essential oils. My favourite scent is pine: it really helps me remain calm during not-so-relaxing conversations.”
“I believe mindful eating is essential for wellbeing and this is something I really try to teach my five children as well. That doesn’t mean we don’t ever eat sugar or meat, but we do try to balance it out with a lot of vegetables and legumes.”
