Veteran actress Jin Yin Ji was hospitalised recently after severe abdominal pain and a fainting spell.
She had to seek treatment after taking laxatives in a bid to keep slim. The actress told Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao that she had thought the laxatives were safe because she had taken them when she was younger in order to lose weight. We hope she gets well soon but take this as a lesson to avoid laxatives unless you really are feeling constipated.
The Big Little Lies actress credits her health and body goals to clay. Yes, clay! She eats about a teaspoon each day via her at-home toothpaste recipe. Shailene says eating clay can help rid one’s body of heavy metals and “radioactive isotopes”. Um..okay but don’t try this at home kids.

If I looked like Sarah Michelle Gellar after two kids, I’d be happy as is. But the Buffy actress says her figure is due to a cabbage soup “cleanse” that she turns to from time to time. It involves a rigid week-long diet plan that consists of veggies, lean meats, and all-you-can-eat bland cabbage soup. Thanks but no thanks!
Madge is an icon. Full stop. But she’s only human and everyone makes mistakes right? The Queen of Pop was reportedly a fan of the “Air Diet” back in the 00s. It sounds exactly like what it is. A diet where you simply eat air instead of real food. How about no?
Kourtney swears by placenta pills in keeping her fit, healthy and svelte. Calling them “life-changing”, placenta pills are dehydrated, ground-up bits of your afterbirth, which have been encapsulated into pill form. They have not been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration so please don’t take them.
While not the weirdest on this list, Angelina’s method for staying slim isn’t exactly the tastiest. The actress sticks to a diet made up of ancient grains. Think quinoa, millet, chia seeds, spelt and buckwheat, which she claims give her the necessary nutrients she needs and “shinier skin”.
Vicky B, she’s a real lady. A lady who drinks two shots of apple cider vinegar on an empty stomach first thing in the morning in order to burn fat. But beware of this one, experts say! Due to its acidic nature it could cause an upset tummy.
You didn’t think we’d make a list like this and leave Gwynnie out would you? The Goop founder’s goat milk diet is all kinds of ewe. “I just tried a goat milk cleanse for eight days to rid my system of parasites. That was really interesting. It’s only goat’s milk and herbs,” she says.
“The theory is that we all have parasites, and they love the milk protein. So if you eat nothing else, they all come out of the intestinal wall and then you kill them with the herbs.” The body actually cleanses itself though so so we’ll pass on this Gwyn!
