Yeast infections are common and nothing to be embarrassed about. Three out of four women will get it at some point in their life and it can hit you at any age between puberty and menopause.
Also known as candidiasis, it occurs when there’s an excessive amount of a naturally-occurring fungus – called candida, a type of yeast – in the vaginal area. Your vagina might have small amounts of yeast at any given time but it’s only when there’s an abundance of it that it becomes a problem.
