Just when you thought Urban Decay would run out of ideas for a new Naked Palette, the Naked Honey Palette is set to be the staple eye shadow palette, whether you’re a beauty junkie or not.

We Tried Out The New Urban Decay Naked Honey Palette

The new Naked Honey Palette comes with 12 stunning honey-hued shades – all of them exclusive to this palette. Both the matte and shimmery shades boast high pigment payoff, and blending is as easy as spreading butter on warm toast.

The warm matte shades are perfect for creating sunny, fresh eye looks; but layer on the shimmery tones for a luxurious gilded finish – perfect for transitioning your makeup from day to night.

Urban Decay Naked Honey Shade Names

The darker matte shades like Hive, Drip and Sting work well as bases for you to contour the eyelids, and even if you mess up, the lighter shades like Sweet, Swarm and Keeper can help blend away your mistakes. Golden and Honey are amazing shades to add some shine, and look gorgeous in the middle of the lid or on the inner corner of your eyes.

But the million-dollar question that needs to be answered here is: “Is this palette easy to use?” We wrangled three members from The Weekly team to put the Naked Honey palette to the test.

The NAKED Honey palette, $83, will be on sale from September 13 at all Sephora stores and online at sephora.sg. The palette will be available at the Urban Decay store at #B1-32 Ngee Ann City from October 10.

Makeup skills: ★★★★☆

“I use makeup a lot and I’m not afraid to experiment with colours on my eyes. For everyday looks, I tend to stick to browns and neutrals.” – Arissa

Arissa used six different shades on her eyelids – Swarm, Keeper, Golden, Queen, Hive and Drip. “As expected of Urban Decay’s Naked palettes, all the colours complement one another really well,” says Arissa. “I feel that it’s easy to tone down or amp up the drama with just little tweaks. The pigments are also amazingly smooth and easy to blend. I loved how the shade Golden really brightened the eyes when you apply it on the inner corner of the eyes.”

Makeup skills: ★★☆☆☆

” I would describe my makeup skills as basic. I usually only put on eye shadow for events or if I’m feeling fancy. I don’t usually use crazy eye shadow colours and tend to gravitate towards warm, rosy tones.” – Elizabeth

To create her sunny, everyday look, Elizabeth used the shades Sweet, Keeper, Golden, Hive and Drip. Although she used five different shades, the colours blended seamlessly with one another. “I think it’s pretty wearable,” Elizabeth comments of the palette. “I would use the more matte shades for everyday and then to glam it up a bit, I’ll use the shimmery hues.”

Barbara Koh, Editor-in-Chief

Makeup skills: ★★★☆☆

“I’m much more a lip person… so if I need to focus on makeup, it’d be on my lips with a strong colour. I save eye shadow for more formal, dressier evening events as I feel I need more care and time to apply eye shadow and then blend, blend, blend. The sort of colour palette I usually gravitate towards are warmer neutrals, which is probably why I fell instantly in love with the terracotta and burnt hues of the Naked Heat palette.” – Barbara

Barbara used Sting as her base colour and blended it out with Drip. HBIC was then used on top of these shades to add shimmer and dimension to the lids. “I love that the pigments have such high payoff so just a little bit goes a long way,” Barbara quips. “I didn’t think I would reach for the last three shades in the palette, as they are the darkest, but I think it’s territory those with Asian skin tones can venture into. I love the champagne-gold of HBIC… it adds that touch of glimmer and glam, but isn’t OTT.”
